Objective To explore the correlation between androgen hormone level and Blood Glucose,Lipids and Blood Pressure levels. To study the frequency distribution of the single nucleotide polymorphisms(SNPs)in the androgen receptor gene among middle-aged and elderly people in Ningxia urban area. Methods A typical sampling method was used to conduct an epidemiological survey on the population of Ningxia urban community.Total of 1812 people were selected from five different communities. These Ningxia urban populations have lived in local area for over ten years and were recruited from August 2011 to December 2012.The general information of the subjects was obtained by questionnaire and physical examination. The fasting blood glucose(FBG),low density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL),triglyceride(TG),high density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL),total cholesterol(TC),height, weight and serum testosterone(T)were measured.DNA was extracted and the SNPs rs1204038?rs5918760 and rs6152 in the androgen receptor gene were genotyped.SPSS22.0 software was used to analyze the correlation between single nucleotide polymorphism of androgen and its receptor gene and blood glucose, lipid and blood pressure level. Results 1.According to the testosterone level divided into two groups among men, there were no significant differences in total cholesterol(TC)levels, triglyceride(TG)level, high density lipoproteincholesterol(HDL))Level and systolic blood pressure(SBP)level between the two groups(P > 0.05);fasting blood glucose(FBG),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL),and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)level in middle-aged and elderly men in T>260ng/mL group were lower than T<260ng/mL group(P <0.05).The comparison results of various indexes in the middle and old aged women of the study group according to testosterone level showed that: there were no significant differences in fasting blood glucose(FBG)level, triglyceride(TG)level, systolic blood pressure(SBP)level and diastolic blood pressure(DBP)level between the two groups(P > 0.05);Middle-aged and elderly women in T>100ng/mL group had lower levels of total cholesterol(TC)level,high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL)and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL)than the T<100ng/mL group(P <0.05).2.Androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly people were negatively correlated with blood glucose(r =-0.069 P <0.05).Androgen levels were negatively correlated with TC,HDL,and LDL in the elderly population(r =-0.122 r =-0.162 r =-0.184 P <0.05).Androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly men were negatively correlated with TC and LDL(r =-0.073 r =-0.084 P <0.05).Androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly women were negatively correlated with HDL(r =-0.073 P <0.05).Androgen was negatively correlated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure in middle-aged and older men(r =-0.118 r =-0.083 P <0.05).3.The androgen level of Han male and general male hypertension group was lower than that of non-hypertension group, with significant statistical difference(P < 0.05).Systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure increased with the decrease of androgen level in general men,and the androgen level was negatively correlated with systolic blood pressure and diastolic blood pressure(r=-0.111-0.083 P < 0.05).Androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly populations were negatively correlated with systolic blood pressure(r =-0.080 P<0.05).Systolic blood pressure(SBP)increased with the decrease of androgen level in Han population, and there was a negative correlation between the level of androgen and SBP(r=-0.111 P<0.05).3.The results showed that the frequencies of rs1204038,rs5918760 and rs6152 loci didnot conform to Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium law(P > 0.05).Chi-square test showed that the frequencies of rs1204038 and rs6152 loci were different from those of the United States and the United Kingdom. The frequencies of rs5918760 loci were different from those of other Asian nationalities(southern Han,Tokyo,Japan)and the United States,Britain. Conclusions 1.Androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly people are negatively correlated with blood glucose, androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly men are negatively related to TC and LDL,androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly women are negatively related to HDL,androgen levels in middle-aged and elderly men are negatively related to blood pressure.2.The distribution frequencies of rs1204038 and rs6152 locus gene in our population were similar to those in other parts of Asia, but different from those in Europe and America. The distribution frequency of rs5918760 locus gene was different from that of other populations in Asia,European and American populations.
