Objective:The maxillofacial morphology and natural head position(NHP)of adenoid hypertrophy with different degree of tonsil hypertrophy were compared; The influence of adenoid hypertrophy with different degree of tonsil hypertrophy on maxillofacial development and NHP was analyzed by cephalometric analysis, which provided theoretical basis for clinical prevention and treatment. Methods:The study collected 42 children with adenoid hypertrophy(A/N?0.71)who were admitted to the otolaryngology department of shanxi children's hospital from July 2018 to April 2019,among whom 22 were male patients and 20 were female patients, aged from 8 to 12 years old. They were divided into three groups of 14 each according to the degree of amygdala hypertrophy(according to the brodsky-kock classification).Group A: no amygdala hypertrophy;Group B: with tonsillar hypertrophy ?-? degrees;Group C: tonsil hypertrophy ?-? degrees.Lateral cranial radiographs were taken for each child. The size of the adenoid and the values of?SNA,?SNB,?ANB,NP-FH,MP-FH,The Y axis Angle,ANS-Me/N-Me(%),Ar-Go/ N-Me(%),?U1-L1,?U1-NA,?L1-NB,?OPT-FH,?CVT-FH,Go-Gn,Ar-Gn and ANS-PNS were measured by using the geometric sketch-board 5.07 image processing software for the lateral cranial radiographs. After the measurement data were sorted out, statistical software SPSS19.0 was used to conduct statistical analysis on the measurement data conforming to the normality and homogeneity of variance. The difference between groups A,B and C was analyzed by one-way analysis of variance(ANOVA).Lsd-t test was used for pice comparison. When P < 0.05,the difference was statistically significant. Results: 1.General conditions:There was no statistical difference in gender, age, height, weight and other general medical data of children in groups A,B and C.2.Data statistics results:One-way anova of the groups A?B and C showed statistically significant differences(P<0.05).The measured values of?U1-NA??U1-L1??L1-NB??SNA?ANS-PNS and Go-Gn showed no significant difference between groups A,B and C.The values of?SNB?Ar-Go/N-Me?Ar-Gn??OPT-FH??CVT-FH were larger and the values of?ANB?MP-FH were smaller in group B than in group A,showing statistically significant differences. The values of?SNB?NP-FH?Ar-Go/N-Me(%)?Ar-Gn??OPT-FH and?CVT-FH were larger and the values of The Y axis Angle??ANB?MP-FH and ANS-Me/N-Me(%)were smaller in group C than in group A,with statistically significant differences. It was found that the values of?SNB and NP-FH increased, while the values of Y??,MP-FH and ANS-Me/N-Me(%)decreased comparing group C to group B and the difference was statistically significant. When group A was compared with group B and group C,the statistical difference was more significant with group C than with group B.Conclusion:1.Adenoid hypertrophy is accompanied by tonsil hypertrophy. The degree of tonsil hypertrophy was positively correlated with the degree of NHP proneness.2.Adenoid hypertrophy is accompanied by tonsil hypertrophy. The degree of tonsil hypertrophy was positively correlated with the degree of counterclockwise rotation of mandible, the degree of mandible extension and the linear length of mandible.3.Adenoid hypertrophy is accompanied by tonsil hypertrophy, and the effect of tonsil hypertrophy on maxilla and central incisors was not statistically significant.
