Discussion On The Relationship Between Colonic Verbosity?BMI And The Etiology Of Chronic Appendicitis

Objective:To explore the relationship between chronic appendicitis in children and the length of colon and BMI,so as to provide theoretical basis for the length of colon and BMI as the cause of chronic appendicitis in children.Methods:100 cases of suspected chronic appendicitis in pediatric surgery department of the first hospital of shanxi medical university from September 2017 to April 2019 were taken as the research object.The lower gastrointestinal angiography X-ray films were collected to record whether the colon was long and whether the appendix was filled with defects.General information(e.g.,gender,age,height,weight,etc.)was collected for all children.All cases were grouped according to normal colon of children with chronic appendicitis,long colon of children with chronic appendicitis,normal colon of children with non-chronic appendicitis and long colon of children with non-chronic appendicitis.All cases were grouped by age,sex and BMI.BMI of all subjects was calculated according to the formula of body mass index: BMI= weight/height.Results:1.The difference was statistically significant according to whether the colon was long or not(c 2 =10.630,P=0.001,P<0.05),and the incidence of colon long chronic appendicitis was higher.2.According to BMI grouping,the difference was statistically significant(c2=7.896,P=0.019,P<0.05).The higher the BMI,the higher the incidence of chronic appendicitis,and obesity may be one of the causes of chronic appendicitis.Conclusion:1.Children with colon hypertrophy are more likely to suffer from chronic appendicitis than normal children;2.BMI was positively correlated with the incidence of chronic appendicitis,and obese children had a higher risk of developing chronic appendicitis.
