With the development of medical technology, the mortality rate of stroke declines regularly and the disability rate rises rapidly.Assessment and treatment of upper-limb function for stroke patients are essential. However, the traditional assessment and treatment methods have their own shortcomings. In order to explore new methods, this paper introduces a stroke assessment and rehabilitation system based on surface electromyography and electrical stimulation.Firstly, this paper takes an overview of the traditional assessment and treatment methods for stroke patients. The concept design of the system is planned based on clinical practice, and the feasibility of applying surface electromyography to upper-limb function assessment is verified by a commercial equipment.Secondly, based on the core idea of the comparison between bilateral upper limbs, the models of qualitative identification of stroke patients and quantitative evaluation of upper-limb functional grade are proposed. The accuracy of qualitative identification is 89.29%.The quantitative indicator constructed also has a significant positive correlation with the functional grade of upper limbs.Thirdly, combined with the clinical application scenarios, this paper proposes treatment prescriptions of electrical stimulation. And high muscle tension is successfully identified by surface electromyography data, with an average recognition rate of 83%.Finally,based on the established assessment and treatment model, the stroke assessment and rehabilitation system are built. The feasibility of the system and the effectiveness of the proposed scheme are verified by an experiment.
