Objectives 1.To investigate the employment status,career development and job satisfaction of nursing postgraduates.2.To investigate the evaluation of the nursing postgraduates in the employers who the nursing postgraduates work for.3.To exploring the scale and characteristics of the demand for nursing postgraduates in Fujian Province in the next 5 years.Method 1.By a descriptive study,a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the employment status,career development and job satisfaction in nursing postgraduates graduated from Fujian Medical University from 2002 to 2017.The questionnaire content included general information,self-evaluation of ability,and job satisfaction.The data analyzed by SPSS22.0 and statistical analysis methods included descriptive statistics and T-test.2.By a descriptive study,a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the evaluation of the nursing postgraduates in the managers of medical-related employers who postgraduates graduated from Fujian Medical University from 2002 to 2017 work for.The questionnaire content included general information,satisfaction of nursing postgraduates working,evaluation of professional qualities,ability evaluation,and other suggestion about postgraduate education.The data analyzed by SPSS22.0 and statistical analysis methods included descriptive statistics and T-test.3.By a descriptive study,a questionnaire survey was conducted to investigate the demand for nursing postgraduates in the nursing manager of tertiary hospitals and nursing schools in Fujian Province.The questionnaire content included general information,the current status of nursing postgraduates,the quantity demand for postgraduates,the demand for the professional direction of nursing postgraduates,,ability requirements,professional qualities requirements,curriculum requirements and recruitment factors in the next 5 years.The data analyzed by SPSS22.0 and statistical analysis methods included descriptive statistics,rank sum test and T-test.Result 1.Employment and career development of nursing postgraduates: The employment rate of nursing postgraduates is 99.07% while 97.22% of their jobs were related to nursing specialty.Twenty-five postgraduates(23.15%)perused doctoral education.The total average score of job satisfaction is(58.32±0.89).The three entries with the highest score are occupation stability,colleagues,working conditions,however the three entries with the lowest score are satisfaction of working income,working hours and opportunities for future work improvement.The total average score of job satisfaction from hospitals was significantly higher than that from nursing colleges.The employment rate and professional correspondence rate of nursing postgraduate are high.2.Evaluation of nursing postgraduate by the employers: The employers' satisfaction with the working performance of the nursing postgraduate is 96.97%,the evaluation of professional qualities is good,the best items of professional qualities is the professionalism,the worst items is the psychological quality;the evaluation of ability is good,The three items with the highest score are teaching ability,teamwork ability and self-learning ability.The three items with lowest is research ability,critical thinking and innovative ability.Compared with nursing postgraduates which from other nursing colleges,the three items with the highest score are professional knowledge and skills,teaching ability,clinical nursing ability;the ability evaluation scores of employers were significantly lower than that the self-evaluation of nursing postgraduates' ability;the employers proposed to strengthen the nursing postgraduates research and innovation ability.3.The current status of nursing postgraduates in tertiary hospitals and nursing colleges in Fujian Province: Twenty-two(43.14%)in Fujian Province have full-time nursing postgraduates,and 13(86.67%)nursing colleges have full-time nursing postgraduate.The number of nursing postgraduates in different units is uneven.The nursing colleges have the largest number of full-time nursing postgraduates with 12.00(5.50,20.50),provincial hospital possessed 2.00(0.00,6.50),some hospitals did not have nursing postgraduates,and some hospitals have full-time nursing postgraduates accounting for 2.86% of nursing staff.4.The demand for nursing postgraduates in Fujian Province in the next 5 years:(1)The quantity demand is 514.The tertiary hospitals expected to have a total demand of 407,including 255 professional master degree and 152 academic master degree;The nursing colleges expected to have a total demand of 97,including 39 professional master degree and 58 academic master degree.(2)The highest score of hospital demand for nursing postgraduates' professional direction was critical care,followed by emergency first aid care,in addition,elderly care,operating room care,wound stoma care in turn.(3)The top 5 items with the highest demand for nursing postgraduates' ability are research ability,critical thinking ability,self-learning ability and clinical nursing ability;(4)The top 5 items with the highest demand for professional qualities are responsibility,professionalism,cautious,work initiative and cooperation spirit.(5)The top 10 curriculums with the highest demand are: nursing research methods,evidence-based nursing,medical statistics,medical literature retrieval,clinical research design and paper writing,research project design and application,application of statistical software,nursing management theory and practice,nursing education theory and practice,and psychological nursing theory and practice,of which 5 curriculums are related to nursing specialty,and 7 curriculums are related to research.(6)The main factors of recruitment are academic integrity,comprehensive performance in interviews,first degree in nursing,foreign language proficiency and quality of graduation thesis.Conclusion 1.The employment rate of nursing postgraduate is high,the professional counterpart rate is also high,the social demand is large,the professional thinking is stable,employment areas are concentrated in eastern cities with better economic development,the overall employment development prospect is good,and the job satisfaction is high.2.The employers are satisfied with the nursing postgraduates,but it is need to strengthen research ability and innovative ability of nursing postgraduates 3.The supply of nursing postgraduates in Fujian Province will be in short supply in the next five years.On the basis of ensuring the quality of education,the training institutions should expand the scale of nursing postgraduates.There are some suggestions for the training institutions,nursing postgraduates and employers:(1)Nursing colleges;improve the quantity and quality of nursing postgraduates' tutors;strengthen the capacity training of nursing postgraduates;accelerate the professional development of nursing postgraduates with the orientation of “professional directions requirements”;set up courses with nursing specialty to meet social demands.(2)Nursing postgraduates: improve their comprehensive level and adapt to the needs of employers.(3)Employer: Improve the performance remuneration system,enhance the enthusiasm of nursing postgraduates;do a good job of stratified management of nurses,and play the value of nursing postgraduates...
