Objective:To evaluated the impact of echocardiographic parameter ratio of E/E?on the late recurrence of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation(PAF)in patients After Radiofrequency catheter ablation(RFCA)Methods:We retrospectively studied a total of 288 consecutive PAF patients underwent an initial RFCA in our hospital. The first part, patients were divided into 2 groups depend on AF recurrence after RFCA:Recurrent group,n=67 patients with quickly atrial arrhythmia lasted more than 30 seconds at 3 months after RFCA and Non-recurrent group,n=221.The clinical conditions were compared between 2 groups. The second part,on the basis of the analysis results in the first part, the patients were divided into another 2 groups according to the cut off of the ratio of E/E?: higher ratio of E/E? group, the patients with E/E??13.45,n=55,lower ratio of E/E? group, the patients with E/E?<13.45,n=233.the late AF recurrent rates were compared between 2groups.Results:During a mean follow-up of 24.9±15.8(3-53)months,recurrences occurred in 67 out of 288 patients(23%).In first part, univariate analysis indicate the risk factors(p<0.1)for PAF late recurrence included age, early recurrence,E?and the ratio of E/E '.Cox multivariate analysis indicated that ratio of E/E 'was the independently predictor for late PAF recurrence. The ratio of E/E ' cut off 13.45 predicts atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence with 40.3% sensitivity and 87.3% specificity. In second part, after age-,Hypertension-,postoperative amiodarone therapy-and postoperative propafenone therapy-matched,Kaplan-Meier analysis indicate that ratio of E/E?over13.45 is associated with more recurrence after PAF ablation(log-rank P=0.009),comparing to those with ratio of E/E ' < 13.45.Univariate Cox analysis indicate elevated ratio of E/E?(?13.45)was the independently predictor for late PAF recurrence(HR=3.322,95%CI:1.560-7.075,P=0.002).The ratio of E/E?cut off 13.25 predicts atrial tachyarrhythmia recurrence with 75% sensitivity and 62.2% specificity. Conclusion : The ratio of E/E? ? 13.25 was the important predictor for PAF late recurrence in patients after RFCA.
