Objective:The meta-analysis assessed the prognostic value of serum gamma-glutamyl transferase(GGT)levels for all-cause mortality and cardiovascular(CV)mortality in patients with coronary artery disease(CAD).Methods:Computer searched the literatures about the relationship between serum GGT level and all-cause mortality or CV mortality in patients with CAD from PubMed,Embase,Cochrane Library,Wanfang database,CNKI,Weipu database. The search time was until March 10,2020.According to the inclusion and exclusion criteria, the literatures was selected and the data extracted, and Meta analysis was performed using Revman 5.3 software. Results:This meta-analysis involved a total of 10 literatures, including 15054 patients with CAD.According to the critical value of serum GGT in the selected literatures, patients were divided into high-level GGT group and low-level GGT group. The hazard ratio(HR)or relative risk(RR)with 95% confidence interval(CI)for the mortality of high-level GGT versus low-level GGT patients in each study were extracted. Then, the pooled HR with 95%CI were calculated to evaluate the prognostic value of serum GGT levels.Meta-analysis showed:(1)In univariate analysis, the pooled HR of all-cause mortality was 1.81(95% CI:1.57-2.08)for the high-level GGT group compared with the low-level GGT group in patients with CAD,and the pooled HR of CV mortality was 1.75(95% CI:1.45-2.11).(2)In multivariate analysis, the pooled HR of all-cause mortality was 1.56(95% CI:1.29-1.9)for the high-level GGT group and pooled HR of CV mortality was 1.92(95% CI:1.48-2.5)compared with the low-level GGT group. Conclusion:The elevation of serum GGT level is associated with increased risk of all-cause death and cardiovascular death in patients with coronary artery disease.Serum GGT level is an independent predictor of mortality in patients with coronary artery disease.
