A Study On The Involvement Of Group Work In The Construction Of Social Support Networks For Parents Of Autistic Children

Autism,also known as autistic disorder,is a widespread developmental disorder characterized by a lack of development.With the improvement of modern medical standards,the number of autistic patients is increasing year by year,which will undoubtedly bring a lot of pressure to more and more parents.At present,the research on autism in China is mainly in the field of academic rehabilitation diagnosis,but the research on the parents of children with autism is less.The L center for special education,where I work as an intern,is a special rehabilitation organization for autistic children.In this paper,some parents of autistic children in special education center were studied.By consulting relevant literature on autism,the author conducted a large number of interviews in the early stage and recruited 8 members by way of voluntary registration.During the interview,we learned the basic situation and current situation of parents of autistic children,analyzed the formal social support and informal social support network of parents of autistic children,and further assessed their needs.Then,taking the social support theory as the theoretical basis of this study,six group activities were carried out by using the group work method to help parents of autistic children build their social support network.At the end of the activity,evaluate the effectiveness of the group activity through group work assessment.Finally,the author summarizes and reflects on this research.This study shows that group work plays a very important role in the construction of social support network for parents of autistic children.It can make use of the advantages of group work to help parents of autistic children integrate resources and help each other,and finally achieve the purpose of building social support network for parents of autistic children.
