The Interventional Study Of Social Work On Autistic Children’ Social Support

Since2005, autistic patients have been included in the disabled list, and the numberof them was increasing year after year. The causes of autism are uncertained, but it is nodoubt that will bring influence in the autistic children’ families. Meantime, it will generatehidden dangers to cause more social problems.In this research, the method of qualitative research is mainly used, and based on thecharitable activities about care of autistic children. This study regards autistic children andtheir caregivers in one of autistic children rehabilitation centers and a special school inWuhan as respondent. By describing the process of taken care of the autistic children withtheir caregivers, indicating the pressures and difficulties would exist in reality. And thenexplorting the meanings of social work are involved in public assistance in autisticchildren’ life.The study shows that the caregivers will meet the pressure and difficulties ineconomic, spirit, family and society. Then through analyzing the public service activitiesreveal that some problems exist in the caregivers’ social support network, such as theweakness of the government’s support and society, the lack of giving systematicallypublicity approach, the difficulties of development of autism service agencies,and theinadequate for recognization on autism. Finally, the study gives three measures to makethe autistic children’social supports perfect——by consummating the power supportsystem, establishing the better system of government support and strengtheningprofessional social work intervention.
