PURPOSE: The purpose of this study is to analyze the significance of ultrasound assessment of increased pancreatic echogenicity(IPE)and IPE-related influencing factors, and also explores the morbidity and correlation between IPE and non-alcoholic fatty liver disease(NAFLD).MATERIALS AND METHODS: Between August 2018 and January 2019,altogether 3,004 cases of medical examinations have been collected,of which 1,229 physical examinations from the Medical Center of Quanzhou First Hospital affiliated to Fujian Medical University and 1,775 physical examinations from the Medical Center of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Fujian Medical University respectively, the subject's age, gender, height, weight, abdominal cricumference, medical history have been recorded, and the body mass index(BMI)have been calculated to determine whether there exist general obesity(based on BMI)and central obesity(based on abdominal circumference). The ultrasonic testings of pancreas and liver were performed by two sonographers respectively to determine the existence of IPE and NAFLD.The biochemical indexes of peripheral venous blood including aspartate aminotransferase(AST),alanine aminotransferase(ALT),triglyceride(TG),total cholesterol(TC),high-density lipoprotein(HDL),low-density lipoprotein(LDL),fasting blood glucose(FBG),uric acid(UA),c-reaction protein(CRP)were examined.Via software SPSS22.0,analysis and comparision of morbidity and its correlation is made between NAFLD and IPE,with the difference of all the above indicators between IPE and non-IPE groups.RESULTS:1.The incidence of IPE is 34.0%(1020/3004)in 3,004 healthy subjects, while NAFLD is 28.2%(848/3004);incidence of both IPE and NAFLD is 23.9%(718/3004);The incidence of IPE without NAFLD is 10.1%(302/3004);the incidence of NAFLD without IPE is 4.3%(130/3004).The above results show that the incidence of IPE is higher than NAFLD.2.Compared with the IPE-negative group, the IPE-positive group had statistically significant differences in age, general obesity, central obesity,AST,ALT,TG,TC,LDL,HDL,FBG,UA and CRP(P<0.05).Among them,IPE was negatively correlated with HDL,but not significantly correlated with gender(P>0.05).Multivariate Logistic regression analysis show that age, general obesity, central obesity,AST,ALT,TC,and CRP are independent risk factors for IPE(P<0.05),and central obesity is the strongest(OR19.760).CONCLUSIONS:1?The incidence of adult IPE is higher than that of NAFLD,and it has a tendency to increase compared with previous studies. It is worthy of attention.2?IPE and age, general obesity, central obesity,AST,ALT,TG,TC,LDL,HDL,FBG,UA,CRP and other factors are related,so early risk factors related to IPE prevention are of great significance to prevent further development of IPE related diseases;3? Age,generality Obesity, central obesity,AST,ALT,CRP are independent risk factors for IPE,among which central obesity is the strongest,OR=19.722;4? Central obesity can be used as an important indicator for early screening of IPE related diseases.
