Objectives: To describe the epidemiological characteristics of drinking behavior and obesity in Qingdao adults and analyze the relationship between drinking behavior and obesity measurement indicators. The relationship between those drinking behaviors, such as alcohol consumption, drinking frequency, drinking type and so on,with general obesity and central obesity was discussed.Follow-up data were used to analyze the association between drinking behaviors with general obesity and central obesity. Methods: The baseline survey data of 35,507 respondents and the second repeated survey data of 1,643 respondents in the China Kadoorie Biobank(CKB)Qingdao Project were adopted. After adjusting those confounding factors such as gender, age, education level, physical activity, smoking status, marital status and the frequency of vegetables, meat and fruit, the covariance analysis was used to analyze the relationship between drinking and obesity measures. The logistic regression model was used to analyze the relationship between drinking characteristics and overweight/obesity.Statistical analysis were performed using statistical software package Stata14.0.P< 0.05 was statistically significant. Results: The number of weekly drinkers in Qingdao is higher for men than for women, and the majority of women are never drinking. The proportion of drinkers in the weekly drinkers accounted for the highest proportion, accounting for 39.1%;the drinking frequency was mainly concentrated at 6-7d/w,accounting for 63.8%;the drinking types of Qingdao residents were mainly beer and high-alcohol,accounting for 41.6 % and 44.8% respectively;the age of starting weekly drinking is mainly concentrated in 20-29 years old, accounting for 46.6%.The overweight, general obesity and central obesity among Qingdao residents were higher, accounting for 44.8%,28.1% and 64.0% respectively. There was a "J"-shaped curve relationship between drinking consumption and BMI and WC.The drinking frequency and the relationship between BMI and WC showed an inverted "U" shape.Baseline data analysis showed that the proportion of overweight and moderate alcohol consumption was higher in the case of never drinking, and the OR values were 1.20(95% CI: 1.02 to 1.41)and 1.40(95% CI: 1.19 to 1.66,respectively).),the proportion of general obesity is also higher than the value of 1.23(95% CI: 1.02~1.49)and 1.91(95% CI: 1.57~2.31),the proportion of large-scale drinking patients with central obesity is higher OR=1.57(95% CI: 1.36 to 1.83);drinking frequency was 1-2d/w and 3-5d/w were overweight(OR were 1.31 and 1.46,respectively;95% CI were 1.08 to 1.59 and 1.21 to 1.77,respectively).General obesity(OR were 1.71 and 1.74;95% CI 1.38 to 2.13 and 1.39 to 2.17,respectively)and central obesity(OR were 1.34 and 1.44,respectively;95% CI were 1.14 to 1.59 and 1.22 to 1.71,respectively).The proportion is higher. The proportion of overweight(OR were 1.20 and 2.33;95% CI were 1.03 to 1.39 and 1.34 to 4.05, respectively),and general obesity(OR were 1.34 and 2.14,respectively;95% CI: 1.13~1.59 and 1.18~3.89,respectively)is higher when drinking beer and wine/fruit wine. The proportion of people who drank beer with central obesity(OR=1.21,95% CI: 1.06 to 1.38)was higher. The earlier the age of starting weekly drinking, the higher the proportion of general obesity and central obesity.According to the baseline survey and the second repeated survey data,a large number of alcohol sufferers were generally obese(OR=2.67;95% CI: 1.03 to 6.92)and central obesity(OR=3.17;95% CI: 1.09 to 9.21).The risk is higher, the frequency of drinking is 3-5d/w,the proportion of general obesity(OR=3.35;95% CI: 1.17~9.62)is higher, and the risk of general obesity in drinking high-alcohol and low-alcohol is higher. The OR values were 3.03 and 3.69,respectively;95% CI were 1.14 to 8.07 and 1.16 to 11.74,respectively).Conclusions: There is a "J" type relationship between the amount of alcohol consumed and the measured index of obesity.Cross-sectional study and prospective study show a high risk of general obesity and central obesity in heavy drinking.Unreasonable drinking may be a risk factor for obesity,so to prevent obesity, reasonable drinking should be promoted.
