Analysis Of Risk Factors For Recurrence Of Paroxysmal Atrial Fibrillation After Radiofrequency Ablation

OBJECTIVE: The aim of this study is to analyze the risk factors influencing recurrence after radiofrequency ablation in patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation(PAF).Methods: A total 101 patients with paroxysmal atrial fibrillation undergoing radiofrequency catheter ablation for the first time from January 2015 to December 2017 in the Second Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were enrolled.Initial ablation strategy was circumferential pulmonary vein isolation(CPVI),additional ablation lesions or cardioversion was performed based on the assessment of the operators.According to the recurrence of follow-up after ablation procedure,patients were divided into recurrence group and non-recurrence group.Clinical data at baseline,and information related recurrence about the procedure were collected.Univariate analysis were used to analyze the risk factors,and multiple logistic regression analysis were used to obtain independent predictors of the recurrence.RESULTS: After a mean follow-up of 23.3±14.7 months,30 patients developed atrial arrhythmia recurrence including atrial fibrillation,atrial flutter and atrial tachycardia.Univariate analysis showed that hypertension,cardioversion during ablation procedure,non-only CPVI,postoperative antiarrhythmic drugs,early recurrence were associated with AF recurrence.Further multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hypertension(OR=6.141,95%CI: 1.769-21.320,P=0.004),non-only CPVI(OR=3.376,95%CI: 1.101-11.273,P=0.048),early recurrence(OR=6.671,95%CI: 1.814-24.531,P=0.004)were independent risk factors for AF recurrence.CONCLUSIONS: Hypertension,non-only CPVI,early recurrence were independent risk factors for AF recurrence after radiofrequency catheter ablation.
