ObjectiveTo discuss the clinical manifestation, treatment and prognosis of acute superior mesenteric artery embolism(ASMAE).MethodsThe medical records of 66 patients with ASMAE admitted to the First Affiliated Hospital of Chongqing Medical University from October 2012 to March 2018 were collected for retrospective study. These patients were divided into the death group and the survival group according to whether they died during hospitalization, and their clinical features, the time to diagnosis and treatment methods were compared.T-test and chi-square test were used in statistical methods.ResultsAmong 66 ASMAE patients, there were 16 cases in the death group and 50 cases in the survival group. The age of the death group was(75.6±9.9),which was higher than that of the survival group(68.1±13.2),with significant statistical differences(t=1.998,P=0.041).Among 16 dead patients, cases with the diagnostic time no more than 6 hours, atrial fibrillation, peritoneal irritation sign, weakening or disappearing of bowel sounds and systemic inflammatory response syndrome were 0,14,9,9 and16,respectively,while in the 50 survivors,15(30.0%),30(60.0%),14(28.0%),14(28.0%)and 36(72.0%),separately.The differences between two groups were statistically significant(X2 = 4.621,4.125,4.261,4.261,4.134,P values were < 0.05).ConclusionsASMAE should be taken into consideration when sudden severe abdominal pain occurs in elderly patients with atrial fibrillation.Early(?6hours)and correct diagnosis can improve prognosis, and interventional therapy may reduce hospitalization mortality in these patients.
