Objective: This study aimed at understanding the current situation of food safety knowledge,attitude and practice(KAP)among parents of children aged 3 to 12 years old in Gansu province,and analyze the influence factors.Through the survey,practical and effective interventions were explored to provide scientific basis for the propaganda and education of food safety knowledge,thus improve food safety knowledge,attitude and behavior of parents.As while as for the relevant department to carry out policy and appeal to public to rise food safety awareness and form good practice.Methods: Choose Longxi as rural point and Lanzhou as urban point of the study.Four primary schools,two kindergartens were chosen from each point from November 2018 to May 2019.and each school was stratified by grade.One class was randomly selected from each primary school and two classes were selected from each kindergarten.A total of 3,600 parents were surveyed.The main contents of the survey include the general situation of the respondents,as well as food safety knowledge,attitude and practice issues surrounding food purchasing,storage and handling.Epidata3.1 was used for data entry and SPSS22.0 for data processing and analysis.A descriptive analysis of parents' food safety knowledge,attitude and practice was conducted.T test and variance analysis were used to test whether the score differences of food safety knowledge,attitude and behavior were affected by different social and demographic parameters(such as education level,occupation and family economic level).Chi-square test and Kruskal-wallis H were used to test the difference in the rate of specific titles,multi-factor analysis was conducted by Logistic analysis,and the key population of food safety education was determined by four-quadrant analysis.Results: The average awareness of food safety knowledge among parents of children 3 to 12 years old in Lanzhou and Longxi is 69.80%,the awareness of knowledge points between 3.44% ~ 95.58%,indicate that there is an obvious vulnerability of food safety knowledge.Food safety related attitude correctly holding rate is between 41.31% ~ 96.30%,most parents(83.01%)expressing concern about food safety problems.The correct rate of food safety-related behaviors ranged from18.25% to 92.38%.The differences in food safety knowledge and attitudes of parents in different genders,educational levels,family economic levels and residential areas were statistically significant(P<0.05).The higher educational level and the better family economic level,the better food safety cognition of parents.The food safety cognition of urban parents was generally better than that of rural parents.Conclusion:1.According to the requirements of China's food safety publicity and education program(2011-2015),the awareness rate of food safety knowledge among parents in Lanzhou and Longxi needs further improvement,the overall attitude towards food safety is relatively good.83.01% of parents are concerned about food safety issues,and the accuracy of different behaviors varies greatly.2.Parents who are professional technicians(doctors,teachers)and have a bachelor's degree or above are better at knowing,attitude and practicing.Females are better than males,and cities are better than rural areas.The higher the family's economic level is,the better their knowledge,attitude and practicing will be.3.According to the four quadrant analysis method to determine the first quadrant(both knowledge,behavior are better)population needs to be improved,the characteristics of different quadrant crowd should be taken in consideration to provide intervention strategy in accordance with its own characteristics,enhancing their level of food safety knowledge,attitude and practice as soon as possible.
