Procalcitonin Valuee In Patients With Severe Pneumonia And Septic Shock

Objective:Inquire to value of procalcitonin in severe pneumonia.Methods:Retrospective collection of severe pneumonia cases 68 with septic shock in RICU of the First Affiliated Hospital of CQMU,include 55cases(54 deaths)PCT measured before shock,and 52 cases(49 deaths)PCT measured after shock.By analysis and comparison of serum PCT difference before and after shock,we calculate the sensitivity,specificity and ROC curves;the PCT of death groups within 1day,3days,7days were compared with that of the non-death groups with the corresponding period.Results:In comparison of PCT before and after shock,PCT increased after shock,the difference between groups was statistically significant(P<0.05),area under ROC curve 0.79,when PCT take the best cut-off 3.075ng/ml,the sensitivity is 71.2%,the specificity is 74.5%;the difference of PCT between the death group and the non-death group in1,3and7 days was not statistically significant.Conclusion :Serum PCT is valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of septic shock in patients with severe pneumonia,but it has little correlation with the time of death after shock.
