| Objective:To investigate the correlation between serum sIgE level and the severity of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder(ADHD)core symptoms.Method:A total of 20 children who were 4–12 years of age with allergic disease history and suspected ADHD from Department of Child Health Care of Children’s Hospital of Chongqing Medical University were recruited in this study.SNAP-IV scale was used to evaluate the core symptoms of ADHD and the Children’s Sleep Habits Questionnaire was also applied to evaluate sleep quality. All participants were detected the serum level of sIgE at the same time. The correlation between sIgE and the ADHD diagnosis rate, core symptoms, and sleep problem were analyzed by SPSS 22.0.Results:1.Totally 20 children were participated in this study, the average age was 7.2±2.9 years old;Among them,12 were diagnosed as ADHD;2.The serum level of sIgE showed that 11 children had positive result(sIgE≥0.35kU/L),the other 9 children had negative result l(sIgE<0.35kU/L),and 40% of the children have persistent allergy symptoms;Eczema was the most common comorbid allergic disease(75%)and the most common allergen was dust mite(63.6%);3.The diagnosis rate of ADHD and the positive rate of ADHD core symptoms between the sIgE positive group and negative group were not statistically significant(p>0.05),and the sIgE level was not correlated with the severity of ADHD core symptoms as well(p>0.05);4.There was no significant correlation between persistent allergic symptoms and diagnosis rate of ADHD or the positive rate of core symptoms(p>0.05);5.70% of the 20 children enrolled were reported with sleeping problems by their parents; There was no significant relevance between sleeping problems and the diagnosis rate of ADHD or the positive rate of core symptoms(p>0.05);sIgE level and persistent allergy symptoms were not significantly correlated with sleep problems as well(p>0.05).Conclusion:1.There was no difference in the diagnosis rate of ADHD between the sIgE positive group and the negative group;2.The positive rate of ADHD core symptoms between the sIgE positive group and the negative group was not statistically different;3.The sIgE level was not correlated with the severity of the core symptoms;4.There was no difference between the persistence of allergic symptom and the diagnosis rate of ADHD or the positive rate of ADHD core symptoms;5.The prevalence of sleeping problems between the sIgE positive group and the sIgE negative group was not statistically different;6.The prevalence of sleep problems was not correlated with the diagnosis rate of ADHD or the positive rate of ADHD core symptoms. |
