Objective:The aim of this study is to explore the relationship between the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 and TCM Constitutional Types in chronic hepatitis B Patients, and to futher provide a reference for the prevention and treatment of chronic hepatitis B.Methods:201 chronic hepatitis B patients and 30 healthy controls were recruited in this study. All patients underwent questionnaire survey of TCM constitutional types and the results were analyzed along with general data, laboratory indicators and the levels of IFN-? and IL-10.Results:1.Among 201 CHB patients, the TCM constitutional types frequency distribution:dampheat constitution(33.33%)>qi-depression constitution(24.38%)>yin-deficiency constitution(13.93%)> gentleness constitution(11.44%)> phlegm-wetness constitution(5.97%)>yangdeficiency constitution(4.98%)>qi-deficiency constitution(3.98%)>blood-stasis constitution(1.49%)>special intrinsic constitution(0.50%).The common TCM constitutional types were damp-heat constitution, and followed by qi-depression constitution,yin-deficiency constitution and gentleness constitution.2.There were statistical significance about the levels of ALT and AST,the grade of inflammation and necrosis of liver histological, the stages of hepatic fibrosis in CHB patients with different TCM constitutional types.3.The level of IFN-? in CHB patients was lower than that in healthy controls. However, the level of IL-10 in CHB patients was higher than that in healthy controls. All the differences were statistically significant.4.There were statistical significance about the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 in the mild, moderate and severe CHB patients.Among them, the level of IFN-? in mild CHB patients was significantly lower than that of two other types, however, the highest level of IL-10 was also found in mild CHB patients.5.There were statistical significance about the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 in CHB patients with different TCM constitutional types. The level of serum IFN-? in a order from high to low were damp-heat constitution,qi-depression constitution,yin-deficiency constitution and gentleness constitution;the highest level of serum IL-10 was found in patients with qi-depression constitution, then followed by yin-deficiency constitution,damp-heat constitution and gentleness constitution.6.Serum IFN-? levels in CHB patients presented a negative correlation with HBV DNA and a positive correlation with ALT,AST and TBIL respectively.Serum IL-10 levels positively correlated with HBV DNA and negatively with TBIL,and there was no correlation with ALT,AST levels.7.There was a negative correlation between serum IL-10 level and serum IFN-? level in CHB patients.8.There was no correlation between serum IFN-? and IL-10 levels and hepatic inflammation grade and fibrosis stage.9.No statistical significance was observed in the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 in HBeAg-positive CHB patients,as compared with HBeAg-negative patients.Conclusions:1.These data showed a correlation between serum IFN-? and IL-10 levels and different TCM Constitutional Types in CHB patients. The degree of immune response in patients with different TCM constitutional types were different,as well as the struggle between healthy qi and pathogen, which suggested that the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 could be used as an effective reference index in seeking timing for TCM treatment of CHB.2.The serum IFN-? and IL-10 levels of the CHB patients correlated with liver injury and HBV DNA replication, which suggested that the levels of IFN-? and IL-10 could be a reference index for evaluating the degree of liver injury in CHB patients.
