Objective:To observe clinical efficacy of application of acupuncture combined with conventional treatment and only conventional treatment on post-partum breast carbuncle with qi stagnation and heat accumulation, and to pursue better solutions for the treatment on post-partum breast carbuncle with qi stagnation and heat accumulation and to offer new ideas for its clinical treatment. Methods:A total of 64 cases of post-partum breast carbuncle with qi stagnation and heat accumulation met the criteria and were included in this study.Patients were randomly divided into treatment group(acupuncture combined with conventional treatment)and control group(conventional treatment)by means of random number table, with 32 cases in each group. Both groups were introduced Cefdinir and electric breast pump regularly.Including the above-mentioned therapy, the treatment group was added acupuncture in acupoints of Siguan,Jianjing(bilateral),Liangqiu(bilateral),Zusanli(bilateral)and Neiting(bilateral),once a day for 30 mins each time. Both groups were treated for 5 consecutive days.Measurements and records were made for both groups before and after treatment including white blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil rate(NE%),body temperature, physical signs(size of mass, area of redness),Visual analogue scale(VAS),as well as TCM symptom scores. The clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine was evaluated at the end of all treatments. All data were analyzed by means of statistical software SPSS22.0.Results:1.White blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil rate(NE%): After treatment,WBC and NE% in the two groups were lower than before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).Among the groups,WBC and NE% in the treatment group were lower than those in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).2.Body temperature: After 24 h of treatment, the body temperature of the treatment group was better than that of the control group, with statistically significant difference(P<0.05).After treatment for 48 h,there was no statistically significant difference between the groups(P>0.05).After 72 h of treatment, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups(P>0.05),and the body temperature of the two groups was better than that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).3.physical signs(size of mass, area of redness): After treatment, the signs in the two groups were better than before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The improvement of physical signs in the treatment group was better than that in the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).4.Visual analogue scale(VAS): After treatment,VAS scores in both groups were lower than those before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).VAS score of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).5.TCM symptom scores: After treatment, the TCM symptom score of the two groups was lower than that before treatment, and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.01).The TCM symptom score of the treatment group was lower than that of the control group, andthe difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).6.Evaluation of clinical efficacy of TCM: The total effective rate exhibited 90.00% in the treatment group and 77.42% in the control group. The comparison of clinical efficacy of traditional Chinese medicine between the two groups displayed statistically significant(P<0.05).Conclusions:1.Both acupuncture combined with conventional treatment group and conventional treatment group showed improvement in white blood cell count(WBC),neutrophil rate(NE%),Body temperature, physical signs(size of mass, area of redness),Visual analogue scale(VAS),as well as traditional Chinese medicine symptom scores. In addition, acupuncture combined with conventional treatment was superior to pure conventional treatment.2.Acupuncture combined with conventional treatment was superior to conventional therapy for the treatment of post-partum breast carbuncle with qi stagnation and heat accumulation.
