Objective: To investigate the clinical efficacy of the suture anchors in treatment of chronic calcaneocuboid instability by anatomically repairing.Method:The clinical data of 15 patients with chronic calcaneocuboid instability were retrospectively analyzed in the diagnosis and treatment center of foot and ankle of Xi'an Hong Hui Hospital from February 2016 to September 2018.Among them,6 cases were male and 9 cases were female;an average age was 31.5 years between the ages of 18 to 56 years. All the cases were old injuries of more than 3 months. In this group, all cases of the dorsolateral injured calcaneocuboid ligament were anatomically repaired by using the suture anchors. The clinical effect was evaluated by Visual Analogue Scale(VAS),The American Orthopaedic Foot and Ankle Society(AOFAS)midfoot scoring system and the foot and ankle outcome score(FAOS)with Preoperative and postoperative.During the follow-up,the time required for the patient to recover completely and the complications were recorded.Result:All the 15 patients were monitored for 12 to 36 months, with an average follow-up time of(21.6±7.0)months.An average of 9 months(range from7 to 12 months)with postoperative, the patients recovered their normal life and sport activities. At the last follow-up,the calcaneocuboid joints of all the patients were in a stable state without recurrence or aggravation.Only one patient felt a little stiff on the Lateral part of the middle foot when Weight-bearing walking, only wearing soft soled shock absorbing shoes can relieve the stiff symptoms. At the final follow-up,the average VAS score of the patients was(1.00 ± 1.07)points and the average AOFAS middle foot score was(91.13 ±7.48)points,compared with preoperative was statistically significant(P < 0.01).At the final follow-up,The evaluation of the FAOS score was conducted from five dimensions, the average score of pain was(92.93 ± 7.49)points,the score of other symptoms such as stiffness, swelling and range of motion was(96.07 ± 4.33)points,the score of the score of activities of daily living was(91.60 ± 8.71)points,the score of sports and entertainmentability was(89.67 ± 7.67)points,the quality of life score was(92.73 ± 8.13)points,compared with preoperative was statistically significant(P < 0.01).The excellent rate of postoperative patients: excellent 10 cases, good 4 cases, fair 1 case, poor 0 case, the overall excellent and good rate was 93.3%.Conclusion: For treatment of the chronic calcaneocuboid instability,it is a safe and effective method to anatomically repair the damaged ligament by using the suture anchors. All patients were monitored with stability calcaneocuboid joint and satisfactory clinical effect, which is worth further study and promotion.
