Traumatic Brain Injury(TBI) is a common cause of organic psychiatric disorders, such patients often go to see the neurologists or get surgical treatments. In psychiatric department, it is quite common to see patients developed psychiatric disorders followed TBI, such as personality changes, psychotic symptoms, neurosis, affective disorder and intellectual impairment. Post-concussion syndrome and cerebral contusion syndrome are usually with manifestations of neurosis, which sometimes last for long even lifetime, previously psychiatrists considered such symptoms as due to organic brain damage, drug treatment is the mainly way to help these patients, such point of view ignored the stress factor. Currently there is no domestic case reported of traumatic brain injury comorbid Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder(PTSD). This paper reports 2 cases admitted in the psychiatric department of the Second Affiliated Hospital, Zhejiang University School of Medicine, these patients got brain injury caused by road traffic accidents, they had evidences of organic brain injury, while meeting the diagnostic criteria for PTSD. This paper reviewed the currently researches on TBI comorbid PTSD. noted the importance of co-existing PTSD in traumatic brain injury patients. We should put greater emphasis on the PTSD symptoms, which can benefit more in improving the prognosis of TBI patients.
