In recent years, with the development of social economy and the advancement of urbanization, the dietary habits and lifestyles of adults in China have undergone major changes, causing changes in residents' physical health, especially the prevalence of overweight and obesity. In view of the prevalence of overweight and obesity in China,it is of great theoretical significance to explore the spatial distribution and development of overweight and obesity, and to study the risk factors for overweight and obesity at the individual and environmental levels. However,a comprehensive review of the literature on overweight and obesity shows that most of the existing research focuses on individual genetics and physiology, lack of research combining micro and macro perspectives, and there is no consideration of research data with a nested structure, which only explores the factors affecting adult overweight and obesity from a single level.Based on this, this study selects China's adult population as the research object, uses Chinese family tracking data, adult overweight and obesity rates in various provinces and the provincial statistical yearbook of the National Bureau of Statistics, uses principal component factor analysis, correlation analysis, spatial lag regression model, linear development model, multilayer logistic regression model and other methods to explore the spatiotemporal evolution characteristics of overweight and obesity in Chinese adults and the different influencing factors at the individual, community, and provincial levels. The main conclusions of the study are as follows:(1)From the perspective of time trends, the incidence of overweight and obesity in Chinese adults has a significant year-on-year growth trend, and gender, age, education, whether or not a spouse, and time of exercise have a significant impact on the growth rate of individual body mass index.Similarly, the growth of overweight and obesity among provinces and regions in China cannot be ignored.(2)From the perspective of spatial distribution, the prevalence of overweight and obesity in various provinces in China has a significant concentration in space, and at the same time has the characteristics of "South or East High Rate and North or West Low Rate".The reasons for its spatial differentiation are mainly economic drivers, environmental regulators and environmental drivers.(3)The overweight and obesity situation of adults in China has significant differences between different individuals, different communities and different provinces, highlighting the impact of the environment on individual physiological conditions. The innovations and theoretical contributions of this research are mainly to verify the necessity of using a multi-level theory to study the problem of overweight and obesity in China, point out the differences in the occurrence of overweight and obesity among different groups, communities and provinces, fill in the research gap of exploring the problem of adult overweight and obesity from the perspective of spatiotemporal evolution, and emphasize the importance of external conditions such as social environment and natural environment to maintain the stable weight of adult residents in China. Finally, this study indicates that to suppress the prevalence of overweight and obesity in Chinese adults requires the cooperation of individual adult residents and relevant government departments.Resident individuals should lead a good lifestyle, cultivate unhealthy eating habits, and develop awareness of physical exercise;Government can take more targeted measures according to the differences in weight imbalances in different regions and different groups,at the same time attach importance to improving the ecological natural environment, rationally plan the physical built environment, and strive to create a more conducive living space for the residents of our country.
