Objective:To analyze the distribution of TCM syndrome types in vertigo patients with common diseases in department of Neurology, and to summarize the characteristics and regularity of Vertigo,to lay a foundation for the prevention and cure of Vertigo. Methods: According to the inclusion criteria and exclusion criteria,218 cases of Vertigo were collected, the data of this study were described by the ratio of disease to syndrome.Chi-square test was used as the statistical method.Results:(1)The ratio of men to women with Vertigo patients is 1:1.95,the average age of onset is(64.55?10.92)years old.The age of patients is 60?69 years old.(2)TCM syndrome types:72 cases(33.0%)of phlegm-dampness syndrome,55 cases(25.2%)of qi-blood deficiency syndrome,28 cases(12.9%)of liver-yang hyperactivity syndrome,33 cases(15.1%)of blood stasis syndrome,18 cases(8.3%)of kidney-essence deficiency syndrome and 12 cases(5.5%)of qi-blood deficiency syndrome. The scatter of syndrome differentiation types in different traditional medicine was statistically significant with sex and age(p<0.05).The proportion of qi-blood Deficiency Syndrome was the highestamong female patients(29.9%),and the proportion of phlegm-dampness syndromewas the highest among male patients(45.9%),the patients with deficiency of kidney essence were older, the average age was(70.44?11.22)years,and thepatients with deficiency of Qi and blood were younger, the average age was(61.98?11.01)years.(3)The proportion of common diseases in neurology was 38.1% for transient is chemic attack,28.0% for benign paroxysmal positional vertigo,14.2% for cerebral infarctionand 2.8% for cerebral hemorrhage, anxiety, depression, insomnia and vestibular neuritis accounted for 6.9%,8.3% and 0.9% respectively. The ratioof vestibular Vertigo to non-vestibular Vertigo was 5.6:1.In vestibular Vertigo, the ratio of central Vertigo to peripheral vertigo was 1.85:1.In Central Vertigo, transient ischemic attack accounted for 69.2%,cerebral infarction25.8%,cerebral hemorrhage5%.In peripheral vertigo, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo accounted for 94%,vestibular neuritis accounted for 6.0% among non-vestibular Vertigo patients, insomnia accounted for 54.5%,anxiety and depression for 45.5%.(4)There was no significant correlation between different TCM syndrome types and different clinical symptoms(p>0.05).(5)There was statistical significance between TCM syndrome types and common diseases in neurology(p<0.05).Vertigo caused by transient ischemic attack, cerebral infarction, anxiety and depression was mainly due to phlegm-dampness-middle obstruction syndrome, and vertigo caused by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, somnipathy was mainly due to deficiency of Qi and blood, the dizziness caused by cerebral hemorrhage is mainly due to the syndrome of stasis and blood blocking orifices.Conclusion:(1)In Vertigo patients,phlegm-dampness Syndrome is the most.(2)Among the common diseases in department of Neurology, transient ischemic attack was the most common, followed by benign paroxysmal positional vertigo, cerebral infarction,Insomnia, anxiety and depression, cerebral hemorrhage and finally vestibular neuritis.(3)Vertigo in transient ischemic attack, cerebral infarction, anxiety and depression is mainly due to phlegm-dampness syndrome, benign paroxysmal positional vertigo and insomnia is mainly due to deficiency of Qi and blood, and cerebral hemorrhage is mainly due to slow blood folw.
