Correlation Between Serum Uric Acid Level And Risk Of Osteoporosis In Male

Objective To investigate the relationship of serum uric acid level and osteoporosis in male.Methods A total of 7677 male people underwent healthy examination was divided into two groups of A(uric acid?420mmol/L,5933 cases)and B(uric acid>420mmol/L,1744 cases)according to the level of uric acid.The relationship of serum uric acid level and bone mineral density was analyzed by multivariate linear regression analysis.The factors influencing osteoporosis were analyzed by multivariate logistic regression analysis.Results The age,blood pressure,body mass index,TG,uric acid,lumbar vertebra bone mineral density,hip joint bone mineral density and the percentages of people with drink,hypertension,hyperlipemia and osteoporosis were different between groups of A and B(P<0.01).Multivariate linear regression analysis of serum uric acid and bone mineral density showed that when adjusted for age,BMI,smoking and other factors,serum uric acid increased by 1 umol/L,lumbar bone mineral density increased by 0.027,hip bone mineral density increased by 0.037.The level of serum uric acid was positively correlated with bone mineral density of lumbar vertebra and hip joint(P<0.05).Multivariate logistic regression analysis showed that hyperuricemia was a protective factor in preventing osteoporosis,OR value was 0.704(95% CI:0.594?0.835).Conclusion The level of serum uric acid is positively correlated with bone mineral density.Hyperuricemia is a protective factor in preventing osteoporosis.Figure 0;Table 3;Reference 31...
