ObjectiveThe purpose of the present study is to analyze the related data of serum uric acid level and Symptom Check List-9(SCL-90)of medical staff of a certain factory,to study whether serum uric acid levels were associated with depressive symptoms and other symptoms of SCL-90 or not, to know whether the level of serum uric acid can be used as the early warning signs in early stage of depression.MethodsThe laboratory index of this study is serum uric acid (UA), the psychological index is all factor scores of SCL-90, and all the indexes are measured according to the stan-dard test method. A preliminary analysis of the SCL-90 data of medical staff of the cer-tain factory through psychological test integrated system 5.0,further analysis with statis-tical software like SPSS 19.0 and PEMS3.1, general descriptive statistics, t-test, variance analysis, Pearson’s correlation analysis were used. A value of P< 0.05 or P< 0.01 was considered significant.Results1.Study subjects:289 (55.79%) males,229 (44.21%) females, most are married, with junior college and above education degree, the age concentrates in 25 to 50 years old.2. The 541 cases were tested SCL-90, obsessive state detection rate was the highest, reached 46.58%, followed by hostile(34.2%), paranoia(29.8%), interpersonal sensitive (27.54%), depression(24.77%), somatization(23.48%), anxiety(19.59%), psychosis (14.97%), terror(6.84%), and most were mild symptoms. The average score of each factor was lower than that of norm of China, and the difference was statistically signifi-cant.3. Each factor of SCL-90 were compared in classification standards of Gender, marital status, age, cultural degree; Male and female exist significant differences only in the factor of somatization; unmarried people have more psychological problems than mar-ried people; With the age increased somatization symptoms gradually increased, the dif-ference is statistically significant; The higher educational background, the more psy-chological problems exist.4. Serum uric acid level of males was significantly higher than that in females, and the difference is statistically significant; no depressive symptoms, and mild depressive symptoms’staff have higher serum uric acid levels than moderate and severe depressive symptoms’staff, the difference is statistically significant;Serum uric acid level in severe group’s (Each factor of SCL-90≥2.5) variance analysis showed no significant difference between groups.5.Pearson’s correlation analysis results are shown:uric acid_and the factor of somatiza-tion was negative correlation. At the level of 0.01 (bilateral) are statistically signifi-cant;A positive correlation between the each factor of SCL-90, at the level of 0.01 (bi-lateral),there are significant.ConclusionsThe level of serum uric acid can be used as early warning signs in early stage of depression, serum uric acid has a protective effect on the occurrence of depression, and serum uric acid level can be alert the medical staff to guard against depressive mood. Uric acid and the factor of somatization showed a strong negative correlation, the serum uric acid levels were higher in male than female in generally, somatic symptoms were less in male than female, explain that serum uric acid has a protective effect.on the ap-pear of somatization symptoms.
