Objective:To develop an instrument to measure the self-management efficacy for patients with Parkinson's disease with good reliability and validity. This questionnaire was used to describe the status quo of self-management efficacy in patients with Parkinson's disease and explore the correlation between self-management efficacy and quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease. Methods:Based on Bandura's self-efficacy theory, with three tasks and six skills of self-management as framework, combining literature review and expert consultation to design preliminary questionnaire for Parkinson's patients.Convenient sampling was used and a total of 165 patients with Idiopathic Parkinson's disease at the First Hospital affiliated China Medical University were selected to test the reliability and validity by means of item analysis, exploratory factor analysis, confirmatory factor analysis, calibration correlation validity and internal consistency reliability. The general condition questionnaire,self-management efficacy questionnaire and the 39-item Parkinson's disease questionnaire were used to investigate the demographic and disease related information,self-management efficacy and quality of life.SPSS23.0 and AMOS23.0 statistical software were used to input and analyze the questionnaire results. The maximum, minimum, mean, standard deviation, median, interquartile range and percentage were used for statistical description.T test, exploratory factor analysis and confirmatory factor analysis were used to evaluate the reliability and validity of the questionnaire.Spearman correlation analysis was used to evaluate the relationship between self-management efficacy and quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease.Results:1?There were 4 dimensions and 25 items in the self-management efficacy questionnaire for patients with Parkinson's disease. The cumulative contribution rate was 56.571% and the factor load of each item was more than 0.4.Furthermore,the questionnaire had good stability and fitting degree. The content validity index of the questionnaire was 0.970.each item level content validity index was higher than 0.80.The correlation coefficient between the questionnaire and the calibration was 0.656(P < 0.01).Cronbach's coefficient of internal consistency of the questionnaire was 0.915,and Cronbach's coefficient of each dimension ranged from 0.680 to 0.891.2?The median of self-management efficacy for Parkinson's patients was 90(80,98.5)and the median quality of life was 25.64(16.03,35.26).The scores of self-management efficacy and quality of life in patients with Parkinson's disease were negatively correlated(P < 0.01),and the scores of self-management efficacy and quality of life physical activity, daily living behavior, mental health, sense of humiliation, social support, cognition, communication and physical discomfort were negatively correlated too(P < 0.01).Conclusions:1?The self-management efficacy questionnaire for Parkinson's patients had good reliability and validity, which can be used as a reliable and effective tool to measure self-management efficacy of patients with Parkinson's disease.2?The self-management efficiency and quality of life of patients with Parkinson's disease need to be improved.Self-management efficacy is closely related to quality of life for Parkinson's patients. The higher the level of self-management efficacy, the better the quality of life.
