Objective: Microsurgical techniques have been widely used in the reconstruction of oral and maxillofacial defect, but there have been few reports on the application of parotid surgery. This study compares the effect of using microsurgical technique combined with individualized incision design and traditional parotid surgery to remove benign lesions in the parotid gland area, and summarized the feasibility of surgical optimization of benign lesions in the parotid gland. Methods: A retrospective analysis of 48 patients with benign parotid lesions admitted to our department from November 2016 to April 2019 were selected. In the study group,24 patients underwent preoperative examination combined with medical history and physical examination, designed aesthetic incision, and completed surgery with microsurgical support. In the control group,24 patients underwent surgery by traditional methods, and the treatment effects of the two groups were compared. Results: The difference in the maximum diameter and age between the two groups was not statistically significant(P> 0.05),which was comparable. The postoperative complication rate of the study group(n=6)was significantly lower compared to that of the control group(n=15)and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).Compared to conventional surgery, the patients who received the hidden incisions had less total drainage volume, decreased length of incision, and fewer days of postoperative hospitalization and the difference was statistically significant(P <0.05).On follow-up average 20 months,no reoccurrence was found in any patient. Conclusion: Compared to conventional parotidectomy, the individualized incision combined with microsurgical technique has less-visible scarring, less postoperative recovery time, fewer surgical complications, and more concealed incision which also meet the requirements of patients for aesthetic appearance. It is more promising and worthy of promotion.
