Objective: The investigation was to evaluate the treatment outcome of Tsuge's suturing in repair of flexor tendon injury in zoneⅡand tounders- tand it's theory and characteristic. Methods : Fifty fingers in 44 cases of flexor tendon injury in zoneⅡ, aged from 17 to 45 years old between August 2005 and J October 2006, were injuried by incise, who were divided into two groups randomly. Group A included 29 fingers in 24cases (including 19 male and 5 female cases) were treated by Tsuge's suturing combined with microsurgical technique.Group B included 23 fingers in 20 cases (including 16male and 4 female cases) by using Kessler's suturing. Physical therapy and functional exercise were done after operation. The time of tendon suturing was registered in period of operation. All cases were followed up between 5 months and 1 year. The treatment outcome was evaluated according to TAM standard. SPSS was used to analyze statistical difference among these above mentioned. Results:The cases in Group A did not occur complicating disease after operation. One finger's tendon in one case of Group B was ruptured again after operation and healed in the second operation. The superior rate of Group A was 89.2% according to the TAM assessnent standard, group B was 82.6 %. Group A showed more advantages compared with group B and complications were not found in group A. The time both group A and B spent on operation was different, that of group A was 2.8±0.8 min, group B was 4.5±0.5min.Conclusions : The advantags of Tsuge's suturing combined with microsurgical technique include increasing strong tensile strength, preventing rupture, decreasing damages of blood supply of tendon and simplifying manipulations for clinical application. It is an optimal method in preventing adhesion and rupture, and is reallv an effective procedure to treat flexor tendon injury in zoneⅡ.We believe that it is a simplified, practical, reliable and applicable cure method.
