ObjectivesTo explore the effect of mindfulness meditation on cancer-related fatigue, anxiety and depression in patients with hematological tumor chemotherapy, and to provide a practical intervention plan for clinically effective intervention of cancer-related fatigue, anxiety and depression in patients with hematological tumor chemotherapy.MethodsThis study was a quasi-experimented study. The selected study subjects were patients with hematological tumor chemotherapy who were admitted to the Hematology Department of a top three hospital in Hunan Province from June to November 2019.According to the strict inclusion and exclusion criteria,85 subjects were selected and randomly divided into control group?42 cases?and experimental group?43 cases?.The control group received routine care, including psychological care, diet guidance, intravenous catheterization care, prevention of bleeding and chemotherapy guidance. The experimental group received 4 weeks of mindfulness meditation training on the basis of the control group. Before and after the intervention, the two groups of subjects used the Cancer-Fatigue Fatigue Scale?CFS?and the General Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale?HADS?to evaluate the subjects twice and analyze the effect of the intervention.SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical analysis of the data. The median and quartile intervals were used for statistical description.Chi-square test,non-parametric Wilcoxon rank sum test, independent sample t test, and Paired t test were used for statistical inference. The standard?of the test was 0.05,and P?0.05 is statistically significant.ResultsDuring the intervention,3 patients were quitted. The effective sample size of this study was 82,including 42 in the experimental group and 40 in the control group.?1?Comparison of general information between two groups of patients:comparison of general information such as gender, ethnicity, family location, marital status, education level, working status, availability of medical insurance, family monthly income, smoking, drinking,BMI,chemotherapy course, disease classification, the difference was not statistically significant?P>0.05?.?2?Comparison of CRF scores before intervention:before the intervention, the total CRF score of the experimental group was M(P25,P75)of 31.5?27.0,36.3?,physical fatigue score,M(P25,P75)of 17.5?14.0,20.0?,and cognitive fatigue score,M(P25,P75)was 6.0?4.8,8.0?,emotional fatigue score,M(P25,P75)was 9.0?8.0,11.0?.Before the intervention, the total CRF score of the control group,M(P25,P75)was 31.0?27.0,33.0?,physical fatigue score,M(P25,P75)of 14.5?14.0,18.0?,cognitive fatigue score,M(P25,P75)was 7.0?5.0,8.0?,emotional fatigue score,M(P25,P75)was 8.0?8.0,10.0?.There was no significant difference in the total CRF scores and scores of each dimension between the two groups of patients?P>0.05?.?3?Comparison of anxiety and depression scores between two groups of patients before intervention:before the intervention, the anxiety score of the experimental group was M(P25,P75)of 9.0?6.0,10.0?,and the depression score was M(P25,P75)of 9.0?7.0,10.0?.Before the intervention, the control group had anxiety scores of M(P25,P75)was 8.0?6.0,9.0?and depression scores of M(P25,P75)was 8.0?5.3,10.0?.There was no significant difference in the anxiety and depression scores between the two groups?P>0.05?.?4?Comparison of CRF,anxiety and depression scores between two groups of patients after intervention:after the intervention, the total CRF score of patients in the experimental group,M(P25,P75)was 23.0?19.9,27.0?,anxiety score,M(P25,P75)5.0?4.0,6.0?,and depression score M(P25,P75),4.0?3.0,6.0?.In the control group, the total score of CRF,M(P25,P75)was 28.5?24.3,31.0?,anxiety score,M(P25,P75)was 8.5?6.0,10.0?,depression score,M(P25,P75)was 7.5?5.3,10.0?.The total CRF score, anxiety and depression scores in the experimental group were lower than those in the control group, and lower than the scores before intervention in the experimental group. The differences were statistically significant?P<0.05?.Conclusions?1?Mindfulness meditation can alleviate the symptoms of cancer-related fatigue in patients with hematological tumor chemotherapy.?2?Mindfulness meditation can alleviate the anxiety and depression levels of patients with hematological tumor chemotherapy.
