Objective:Benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(BPPV)is the most common peripheral cause of vertigo. It can be defined as transient vertigo induced by rapid change in head position, associated with a characteristic paroxysmal positional nystagmus.Brandt-Daroff exercising was a common vestibular rehabilitation training,it can increase the tolerance of BBPV patients to vertigo symptoms. The aim of our study was to compare the efficacy of Betahistine combined with Brandt-Daroff exercise and Betastain alone for the treatment of the subjective benign paroxysmal positional vertigo(S-BPPV).Methods:A prospective study was conducted on 90 patients with s-BBPV who were admitted to the department of Neurology of Wujin Hospital Affiliated to Jiangsu University from January 2012 to December 2017.Among them, there were 27 males and 63 females, whose age ranged from 38 to 84 years with the average age of 61.19±12.18 years. The patients were randomly divided into two groups by random number table method, the Betahistine drug treatment group(40 cases),the drug treatment combined Brandt-Daroff exercise treatment group(50 cases). The curative effects were observed after 1 weeks,2 weeks and 3 weeks respectively. Results:The total effective rate of Betahistine combined with Brandt-Daroff exercise in the treatment of S-BPPV was higher than the drug treatment group(P<0.05 after 1 weeks,2 weeks and 3 weeks. There were no case patients relapse in the group of Betahistine combined with Brandt-Daroff exercise, and 3 cases(7.50%)patients relapse in the drug treatment group after 3 weeks. Conclusion:The total effective rate of Betahistine combined with Brandt-Daroff exercise treated the S-BPPV was better than the drug treatment, and it can also reduce the short-term recurrence rate of the S-BPPV.
