Objective To explore the effect of isometric exercise training on blood pressure and heart rate of elderly patients with hypertensive. It provides a theoretical basis for elderly patients with hypertension to carry out convenient and safe exercise programs. Methods A randomized controlled research method was used. From April 2019 to January 2020,the elderly patients with hypertension in a community of Suzhou were selected according to the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The participants were randomly assigned to the experimental group and the control group according to the random number list. The experimental group received isometric handgrip training, while the control group was a blank control group.According to previous studies,a total of 64 samples were calculated, all participants were given the same hypertension health education.Based on this, the experimental group regularly went to the community health service center to implement the isometric handgrip exercise training program in the form of group training. The isometric handgrip exercise training program includes a total of 8 weeks of training,3 times a week, one day apart, and each time from 2:00 PM to 3:00 PM,alternating hands with 30%maximum grip strength for 1 minute of isometric handgrip exercise training,8 times in total. The whole process takes about 8 minutes.Observation indexes include:office blood pressure, heart rate, ambulatory blood pressure and other parameters. All the parameters before and after the intervention were collected.SPSS 25.0 software was used for statistical processing.Independent sample t test,Mann-Whitney U test, paired sample t test,Wilcoxon rank sum test and ?2 test were used during the process of data analysis.P<0.05 was considered statistically significant.Results(1)In terms of office blood pressure, the changes of systolic blood pressure after 8 weeks in the experimental group were significantly different from that in the control group(P=0.001),(2)The difference of the pulse pressure between the experimental group and the control group are also statistically significant the changes of pulse pressure were similar(P=0.004),(3)In terms of ambulatory blood pressure, the variations of the average systolic blood pressure during the daytime after 8 weeks in the experimental group were significantly different from that in the control group(P=0.020),(4)While the changes of the average systolic blood pressure at night were also similar(P=0.033).When comparing within the experimental group, significant differences were observed in systolic blood pressure(P<0.001),(5)The difference of pulse pressure in the examination room before and after 8 weeks was significant(P=0.002),and the difference of mean arterial pressure in the examination room before and after intervention was statistically significant(P=0.008),(6)The systolic blood pressure drops in office blood pressure and all-day,daytime and night-time ambulatory blood pressure that reached clinical significance were 73.3%,53.3%,60.0%and 63.3%,respectively.Conclusion Low-intensity isometric handgrip exercise training can significantly reduce the office systolic blood pressure and pulse pressure and all-day systolic blood pressure,all-day mean arterial pressure,day-time systolic blood pressure of 24-h ambulatory in elderly patients with hypertension, and it can be used as an adjunctive therapy for the antihypertensive exercise in elderly patients with hypertension.
