Objective: The present situation of illness awareness and treatment compliance in young and middle-aged patients with essential hypertension was investigated in a cross-sectional survey, the influencing factors were analyzed, and the correlation between illness awareness and treatment compliance was discussed to provide theoretical basis for follow-up intervention studies. Methods: This study is a cross-sectional investigation. The subjects were young and middle-aged patients diagnosed with hypertension in the department of cardiology of Ruikang hospital affiliated to Guangxi university of traditional Chinese medicine from march to September 2019.The cross-sectional survey was conducted in strict accordance with the inclusion and exclusion criteria. The general demographic and disease data questionnaire,BIPQ and TASHP were used to carry out the questionnaire survey, which was mainly self-filled by patients.SPSS 20.0 statistical analysis software was used for data analysis and processing. The analysis methods adopted mainly included descriptive statistics,t test, single factor analysis,non-parametric test, multiple linear regression analysis,Pearson and Spearman correlation analysis.Results:(1)In this study,a total of 240 young and middle-aged patients with hypertension were investigated, including 155 males and 85 females, accounting for 10% aged 18-29 years old,19.17% aged 30-39 years old,30.31% aged 40-49 years old and 40.42% aged 50-59 years old, with an average age of 44.41±9.41 years old.The patients with grade iii hypertension accounted for 11.25%,and the duration of hypertension of > years was 28.33%.(2)The average score of disease perception level of young and middle-aged hypertensive patients was 26.33±3.80 points, and the top three causes of disease in the disease perception scale were family heredity, diet, and obesity, respectively.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that education level was closely related to disease perception.(3)The average score of treatment compliance of young and middle-aged hypertensive patients was 70.30±6.75 points, and the score rate of each dimension was from high to low: tobacco and alcohol management, bad medication, compliance medication and life management.Multiple linear regression analysis showed that gender, age, education and occupation were closely related to treatment compliance.(4)Pearson correlation analysis showed that there was a significant positive correlation between illness awareness and treatment compliance in young and middle-aged patients with hypertension(R=0.461,P < 0.001).Conclusion:(1)The illness awareness score of young and middle-aged patients with primary hypertension is low, which is in the overall weak form. Most of the patients do not pay enough attention to hypertension, and the patients' perception of prognosis, symptom recognition, treatment control, disease care and emotional influence of hypertension is the weakest. The scores of illness awareness in young and middle-aged hypertensive patients with higher education level were higher(2)The overall level of treatment compliance of young and middle-aged patients with essential hypertension is not optimistic, especially the patients' compliance with medicine and living management level is poor.Gender, age, education and occupation are important factors affecting the treatment compliance of young and middle-aged patients with essential hypertension.(3)There was a significant positive correlation between patients' illness awareness and treatment compliance, suggesting that medical personnel should pay attention to the illness awareness of young and middle-aged patients, and give appropriate intervention based on disease cognition, emotional response and disease understanding,so as to improve the illness awareness of young and middle-aged patients and improve their treatment compliance.
