Objective We analyzed the characteristics of blood pressure and cardiovascular risk factors in college students and the correlation between each factor and blood pressure, and compared the independent prediction risk of each metabolic risk factor and arterial function on hypertension by investigating and detecting blood pressure and cardiovascular risk factors in this group of people. It provides a basis for the prevention and treatment of hypertension in college students. Methods From March to December 2018,a total of 5185 students were randomly selected via cluster sampling from some universities in Zhengzhou. They were measured blood pressure, height, weight and they completed questionnaires.Using with R software,286 subjects were randomly sampled from 5185 students, who had routine laboratory tests including serum creatinine, urinary microalbumin quantification, serum uric acid, total cholesterol(TC),triglyceride(TG),high-density lipoprotein cholesterol(HDL-C),low-density lipoprotein cholesterol(LDL-C),fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and brachial ankle artery pulse wave conduction velocity(ba PWV).After excluding 1 case with incomplete information, data of 285 cases(83 in the normal blood pressure group,101 in the High normal blood pressure group, and 101 in the hypertension group)were finally included for statistical analysis.Results1.Distribution of blood pressure and body mass index(BMI):5185 college students(male 2051)were surveyed, with an average age of 19.42 ± 1.07 years old.The detection rate of hypertension was 13.9%(723/5185),in which male was 28.9%(593/2051),female was 4.1%(130/3134),grade 1Hypertension was 88.2%(638/723),isolated systolic hypertension was 81.5%(589/723),and high normal blood pressure group was 38.7%(2006/5185).The detection rates of overweight and obesity were 10.45%(542/5185)and 3.88%(201/5185)respectively.The detection rates of hypertension in the underweight, normal weight, overweight and obese groups were 5.4%,11.1%,31.5% and 55.7%respectively.2.General risk factors: the smoking and drinking students were 4.8% and 6.4% respectively,57.9% and 76.6% of those who regularly eat fried food and drink,59.3% of the people fell asleep after23:00 and 25.4% suffered from insomnia.Students with smoking, drinking, snoring, staying up late, short sleeping time, less fruit intake, regular consumption of beverages and fried food, and a family history of hypertension had a higher detection rate of hypertension than those without the above-mentioned bad habits and family history(P>0.05).3.Hyperuricemia,dyslipidemia and urinary microalbumin abnormal detection rate: the detection rate of HUA of 285 college students who had undergone metabolic risk factor detection was 37.9%(108/285),and the detection rate of abnormal blood lipids was 14.0%(40/285),the detection rate of urine microalbumin was 11.3%(32/285).4.Comparison of the general conditions of the three groups(normal blood pressure, high normal blood pressure, hypertension): The levels of SBP,DBP,BMI,ba PWV,fasting plasma glucose, serum uric acid, triglyceride, serum creatinine and urinary microalbumin in the hypertension group were all higher than those in the normal blood pressure group(P<0.05).There was no statistical difference in TC,LDL-C,HDL-C and ABI in different blood pressure groups.5.Univariate Logistic regression analysis of risk factors and blood pressure: Hyperuricemia (HUA),obesity,FPG,ba PWV were associated with hypertension(P<0.01),and blood lipid was not associated with hypertension(P>0.05).6.Multivariate logistic regression analysis of various risk factors and blood pressure: multivariate logistic regression model showed that HUA(OR = 2.975,95% CI: 1.003-1.007),obesity(OR = 2.814,95% CI: 1.297-6.105),FPG(OR = 2.184,95% CI: 1.090-4.378),ba PWV(OR = 1.652,95% CI: 1.37-1.992)were independent risk factors for hypertension in college students. The area under the receiver operating characteristic curve(ROC)(AUC)was 0.786(95% CI: 0.729-0.842,P<0.001).Conclusions The detection rate of hypertension was 13.9%.More than half of the college students had unhealthy diets and about a quarter had insufficient sleep.HUA,obesity,FPG,and ba PWV were all associated with the occurrence of hypertension independently.Hyperuricemia was the strongest independent risk factor for hypertension in college students.Dyslipidemia was not associated with hypertension in this population.
