Relationship Between Trait Emotional Intelligence And Quality Of Life In Women With Breast Cancer:Fear Of Cancer Recurrence's Mediating Role

PurposeTo investigate the status and influence factors of traits emotional intelligence,the fear of cancer recurrence and the quality of life in female breast cancer patients,analyze the relationship between the three and construct a structural equation model,develop the targeted intervention to impprove the patient' s traits emotional intelligence,and provides a direction and theoretical basis for reducing the fear of cancer recurrence and improving their quality of life.MethodsA total of 215 patients with breast cancer selected period from December 2018 to September 2019 in two gland surgery and oncology department of two hospitals in Shandong province,using self-made basic information questionnaire,trait emotional intelligence questionnaire,The Fear of Disease Recurrence Questionnaire and the Concise Health Status Questionnaire(SF-12V2 Chinese version)were investigated.Analyzing the acquired data entry in SPSS 22.0 and AMOS Performed in 21.0.ResultsA total of 240 questionnaires were issued in this study,and 215 samples were responded,with a response rate of 89.6%.as followed:1.The mean scores(SD)of the four dimensions of the trait emotional intelligence questionnaire are:self-control factor dimension was 18.79(20.05),happiness factor dimension was 18.45(30.60),emotionality factor dimension was 17.33(30.48),sociality factor dimension was 27.56(18.84),the total score of trait emotional intelligence was 95.76(17.68).The mean scores(SD)of two dimensions of the fear of cancer recurrence questionnaire scores were:physical health dimension was 15.65(4.33),social and family dimension was 15.37(4.84),the total score of fear of cancer recurrence was 31.02(8.37).The mean scores(SD)of eight dimensions of quality of life questionnaire were:general health dimension was 35.81(23.23),the physiological function of the dimension was 59.30(26.71),the physiological functions of the dimension was 57.79(23.78),role emotional dimension was 65.76(20.96),bodily pain dimension was 68.26(22.57),mental health dimension was 60.81(16.55),vitality dimension was 58.60(19.97),social function dimensions was 62.21(31.87)points,including physical health field was 41.09(7.76),mental health was 45.26(9.20).2.Univariate analysis showed that there were differences in the trait emotional intelligence in marital status,education level,per capita monthly income,work status,cancer stage,treatment and disease understanding(P<0.05).The fear of cancer recurrence was affected by age,marital status,home address,work status,per capita monthly income and cancer stage,etc.The difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).The physical health field was affected by marital status,per capita monthly incomee,cancer stage,treatment methods,whether metastasis or recurrence and other factors,while the mental health field was affected by age,marital status,per capita monthly income,cancer stage and treatment methods,and the difference was statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Pearson correlation analysis showed that trait emotional intelligence was negatively correlated with fear of cancer recurrence(r=-0.575,P<0.01);trait emotional intelligence was positively correlated with physical health and mental health(r?0.414,P<0.01;r=0.580,P<0.01);fear of cancer recurrence was negatively correlated with physical and mental health(r?-0.495,P<0.01;r=-0.627,P<0.01).4.Structural Equation Modeling analysis showed that:?Trait emotional intelligence directly positively predicts the quality of life,standardized path coefficient of 0.379(P<0.001);?Trait emotional intelligence directly negatively predicts cancer recurrence fear,standardized path coefficient of-0.722;?The fear of cancer recurrence negatively directly predicts the quality of life,and its standardized path coefficient is-0.592.? Trait emotional intelligence indirectly positively predicts the quality of life,with the fear of cancer recurrence as a mediator variable.The standardized path coefficient is(-0.722)*(-0.592)?0.427,the overall effect value of trait emotional intelligence on quality of life of is 0.379+0.427=0.806,indicating that fear of cancer recurrence partially mediated the impact of trait emotional intelligence on quality of life,its mediating effect accounted for 52.98%of the total effect.Conclusions1.The traits emotional intelligence of breast cancer patients are close to the level of ordinary people,the fear of cancer recurrence is at a higher level in overall,and the quality of life is generally at a lower level:2.In some aspects,the characteristics of breast cancer patients are different in emotional intelligence,such as marital status,educational level and per capita monthly income;Patients with certain characteristics of cancer recurrence fear should not be ignored,such as young age,no spouse,low income;The quality of life of patients with certain characteristics is more noteworthy,such as no spouse,low income,advanced cancer,etc;3.There is a correlation between trait emotional intelligence,fear of cancer recurrence and quality of life in breast cancer patients;4.The fear of cancer recurrence in breast cancer patients is partially mediating between their trait emotional intelligence and quality of life.5.This study provides a theoretical basis for TEI training of cancer patients to improve trait emotional intelligence,reduce the fear of cancer recurrence,and improve quality of life in future.
