Objective1.To understand the status quo of people living with AIDS patients' social adaptation,self-acceptance and self-concealment,the questionnaire survey was performed to explore the mechanism of social adaptation,self-acceptance and self-concealment.2.Through the semi-structured interview, the real thoughts that affect AIDS patients'social adaptability was explored deeply from the perspective of self-acceptance and self-concealment,so as to supplement the information about life experiences that couldnot be explored in quantitative research.3.Based on the interaction mechanism analysis, the construction of intervention program of AIDS patients' social adaptability was completed initially.MethodsThis study was divided into three parts. The first part was a quantitative study of AIDS patients' social adaptation,self-acceptance and self-concealment.The social adjustment scale,self-acceptance questionnaire and self-concealment scale was used as the survey tools. The convenience sampling method was used to extract 202 outpatients from the AIDS clinical research center of the first affiliated hospital of Henan university of traditional Chinese medicine. The obtained data was analyzed by SPSS software. The second part was the experience research on the social adaptation of AIDS patients. Objective sampling method was used to select 12 AIDS patients, which was from the first part of the current situation survey.Moreover,semi-structured interview was utilized to obtain the deep-seated inner thoughts with the seven steps analysis of Colaizzi, which affected the self-acceptance of and self-concealment on the social adaptation. The third part was the theory construction of the intervention program of AIDS patients' social adaptation ability.Firstly, the investigating the current situation of self-acceptance,self-concealment and social adaptation of AIDS patients' was operated in the early stage. And then the functional relationship among factors affecting the social adaptation ability was analyzed. Finally, the semi-structured interview contents were refined and summarized. The preliminary framework of training program of intervention program of self-social adaptation was formed.Subsequently, the relevant experts discussed the necessity and rationality of the intervention program in the expert meeting. The expert opinions were sorted out, meanwhile, the program content was revised and improved. To sum up,the intervention program of AIDS patients'social adaptation was formed.ResultsThe first part:(1)Significant differences existed in the score of social adaptability of AIDS patients' with different general demographic and sociological data. The single factor analysis results showed that the gender(P<0.001),age(P<0.001),education level(P=0.011),occupation(P=0.005),economic income(P=0.008)and time of diagnosis(P=0.038)had statistical significance on the degree of social adaptability of AIDS patients'.(2)The total score of 202 AIDS patients' was(42.21±5.89).Among the three dimensions, the score of the social interaction dimension was the highest(19.88±3.04).The scores of cognitive intention and role adaptation were(11.30±2.58)and(11.03±2.08),with the same scores, respectively. The total score of self-acceptance and self-concealment was(40.30±5.71)and(40.01±8.06),with the self-acceptance factor score(20.44±3.68)and the score of self-evaluation factor(19.86±4.30).Pearson's correlation analysis showed that the correlation coefficients of social adaptability score with self-acceptance and self-concealment were 0.364 and-0.325,respectively.According to the linear regression analysis, there was a positive correlation between the total score of self-acceptance and the social adaptability(P<0.001),whereas a negative correlation between the total score of self-concealment and the social adaptability existed(P<0.001).(3)The results of linear regression analysis showed that gender(P=0.004),age(P=0.021),civil servant(P=0.006),the total score of self-acceptance(P=0.001)and self-concealment(P=0.003)were the main factors, which affected the social adaptability of AIDS patients. The second part:according to the cognitive analysis of the effect of self-acceptance and self-concealment on the social adaptability of AIDS patients, four major themes and nine sub-themes were extracted and listed as followed:the change in self-acceptance(lack of AIDS related knowledge, the change in self-esteem),the individual differences in self-regulation(deficiency of self-subjective will, spontaneous knowledge seeking and self-encouragement),the change in self-concealment(concealment of illness, the avoidance or escape of coping style),and the change in social communication ability(the changes in social cognition, the changes in social activities or behavior, the changes in family relationships). The third part:experts demonstrated and designed six intervention themes in the orientation of AIDS patients' social adaptation, which included the strengthening disease-related knowledge learning, the improving the self-worth,the adjusting psychological problems, the overcoming social concerns, the strengthening social support and the changing bad habits.ConclusionBased on the real life of AIDS patients, the quantitative study was analyzed about the main factors in this study, which influenced the social adaptation ability. The experience research explored the factors from the deep experience of the patients. So that we constructed the intervention program of self-social adaptation ability of AIDS Patients, which had strong applicability and reliability, and provided theoretical basis for clinical psychological intervention and counseling. In order to response the changing problems and contradictions of AIDS patients, whereas, this plan still needs to be revised and perfect.
