ObjectiveWe used the three dimensional force platform system to gather the dynamics date of gait in our test.To investigate the gait differences between cervical dystonia patients with healthy controls. We evaluated the severity of gait dysfunction by the quantitative methods and analyzed the correlations between gait and TWSTRS or Chinese traditional medicine syndrome. For the purpose of providing basement of diagnosis and treatment in cervical dystonia patients.Methods1.We recruited the cervical dystonia patients who had visited Anhui University of Chinese Medicine Institute of Neurology from November 2018 to November 2019.We chose the cervical dystonia patients from outpatient or inpatient departments as the test group. All the cervical dystonia patients were up to the diagnosis criterions. The control group was chose in healthy people who took health examination in out institution.2.The three dimensional dynamometer system was used to test the gait of cervical dystonia patients. We calculated the dates including walking time, step time, step length, the normalized shear force in three dimensional dynamometers(Fx,Fy and Fz),extremum value(maximum value and minimum value),detrended fluctuation analysis(DFA)and recurrence period density entropy(RPDE).We evaluated the severity of cervical dystonia by the TWSTRS.3.We analyzed the statistical data by IBM SPSS Statistics software, version 19.0.Continuous variables were described as median and range. The normality test,t-test and Pearson correlation test were used to compare the two groups between cervical dystonia patients and healthy controls.A significance lever less than 0.05 was considered statistically significant(P<0.05),less than 0.01 was considered as a very significant statistical significance,P>0.05 for no significant statistical significance.ResultsWe recruited 30 cervical dystonia patients and of age and sex matched healthy adults as control. There were 21 female and 9 male experimenters in each group. There was no significant difference in age, height and body weight between two groups.CD patients' walking time was longer than controls, the step length and step time increased either. The maximum and minimum of Fx/m and Fz/m in CD group were higher than control. On the contrary, the maximum and minimum of Fy/m in CD group was lower than the control group. The value of a and a1 in CD group were lower and a2 was higher by using DFA.The periodicity and regularity of gait was worse than controls. There was correlation between the gait parameters of CD patients and TWSTRS.ConclusionsThe cervical dystonia patients had lower gait velocity than control group, the step length and step reaction time were increased. The CD patients had grater gait variability and lower stability than controls. There might exist correlation between the gait parameters of CD patients and TWSTRS.There might exist correlation between Chinese traditional medicine syndrome and gait velocity, step length and step reaction time.
