Objective:To investigate the clinical data of lichen planus pigmentosus and summarize its clinical and etiological characteristics by using statistical methods. This paper aims to explore the basic syndrome differentiation types of LPP through the study of traditional Chinese medicine symptoms. So as to provide a reliable clinical evidence for preventing and increasing the diagnosis rate of this dermatosis,as well as to treat it with TCM theroy. Methods:A total of 41 patients confirming the inclusion criteria of LPP were included in our investigation from the department of dermatology of Chinese medicine hospital of Jiangsu province during March 2019 to January 2020.The questionnaires were filled by trained professionals according to the respondents. All the data collected were input to Excel to build a database, and then adopted SPSS 26.0 to carry out statistics analysis. At the same time collected the examination information of the patients.About the screen of TCM syndrome group cluster, adopting variable clustering method to determine each class representative syndromes and reasonably summing up TCM syndromes of LPP.Results:The peak incidence of LPP was between 30 and 44 years, and the age of onset presented a normal distribution. The cause of LPP may be linked to sun exposure, mental factors, other variants of lichen planus and autoimmune diseases. The face(48.8%),trunk(34.1%),extremities(29.3%),flexural areas(22.0%)and neck(9.8%)were the commonly affected sites. The commonest pattern of pigmentation was blotchy and patchy(97.8%),followed by linear in 19.5%,followed by reticular in 17.1%and diffuse in 14.6%.Mild to moderate pruritus was noted in 48.8%of the patients. Some cases had erythematous lesions and felt itching in the initial or active phase. When diagnosing and treating LPP,clinicians can consider from the following 3 patterns of syndrome:imbalance of heart-kidney,dampness-heat accumulating in spleen and deficiency of heart-Yin.Conclusion:LPP predominantly affects patients with darker skin phototype ? and is more common in females. The peak incidence of LPP was between 30 and 44 years. The cause of LPP may be linked to sun exposure, mental factors, lichen planus and autoimmune diseases.LPP is characterized by a asymmetrical distribution of brown to gray-brown,irregular macules or plaques with poorly-defined borders, which often affects the face, trunk, extremities, flexural areas and neck. The commonest pattern of pigmentation was blotchy and patchy, followed by linear, followed by reticular and diffuse.Pruritus is often noted in patients. Some cases may have erythematous lesions and felt itching in the initial or active phase. The common TCM syndromes are the imbalance of heart-kidney,dampness-heat accumulating in spleen and deficiency of heart-Yin.Actually,LPP is commonly seen in our country like in India and sometimes brings a negative impact to patients when it occurs on the face and neck.So exploring the etiology, clinical features and TCM syndrome types is crucial to increase the correct diagnosis rate of LPP,prevent and reduce the occurrence and development of disesase, providing clinical evidence for future treatment of Chinese medicine.
