Study On The Ability Of Undergraduates In Management Of Public Health Services In Naval Military Medical University Based On Position

Along with the reform of the military's composition and functions,Second Military Medicine University(SMMU)transferred into an affiliation charged by the People's Liberation Army Navy(PLAN),renamed Naval Medicine University(NMU).New direction of cultivation and assignment of students means redefinition and rearrangement of talent training in every major in the university,including the major of management of public health services.To meet the new cultivation requirement,it is still not distinct and completed enough to determine the ability and quality demand of undergraduates who major in Management of Public Health Services and remaining further study.Subject and significanceThis project based on comprehensive pertinent literature search and reference as well as talent cultivation scheme of domestic colleges and universities.Through expert consultation and argument,ability demanding of undergraduates of Management of Public Health Services in NMU was formed initially.Then,through the investigation on the working experience,significance and satisfaction of undergraduate education,and ability demand assessment among the graduates who major in Management of Public Health Services,this study offers a proposal to perfect ability and quality demand and cultivation scheme of undergraduates.Methods1.Literature Research.By collecting domestic and abroad talent cultivation in Management of Public Health Services related literature,we systematically analyzed the concept,intensive property and extension of the cultivation system in core ability and quality training at new stage of People's Liberation Army;then we summarized the above information and designed questionnaires to experts.2.Delphi Methods.On the basis of literature research,we used the abovementioned designed questionnaires according to army talent cultivation requirements and ability demand situation to initially determined ability and quality demand of undergraduates of Management of Public Health Services.Then,we interviewed prespecified expert group consisted of experts in the fields of military science,military health service,health management,education administration to upgrade,classify,modify the index which had been determined through the previous work.Finally,perfect the items of undergraduates' ability and quality,construct the ability and quality demand system of Management of Public Health Services.3.Questionnaire Methods.By issuing questionnaires through network,telephone and paper to the graduates of Management of Public Health Services from class of 1993 to 2008 as quota sampling selected,collecting the working experience,significance and satisfaction of undergraduate education,and ability demand judgement by graduates from different positions.4.Statistical methods.SAS 9.4 was used to analyze the data.Count data is described by N(%),Cochran-Mantel-Haenszel test was used to estimate difference between groups.All P-values reported in this study were two-sided and the significant level was set as 0.05.Result1.Ability and quality demand of Management of Public Health Services undergraduates can be divided into 39 items within 5 aspects.2.The growth path of this major can be basically divided into four types including primary military unit,college or university or research institution,hospital or convalescent hospital,and administration.3.The significance and satisfaction of undergraduate education survey demonstrates that the majority of people under investigation(90.06%)considered undergraduate education had helped their work after graduation,especially in solid foundation of knowledge and mastering learning capacity.Furthermore,92.40% of respondents thought internship during undergraduate periods helped subsequent work.Most respondents were satisfied with overall condition of undergraduate education.The highest evaluation was given to the military ideological and political cultivation,and the physical and mental quality cultivation,as well as their effect on job adaptability after graduate.4.The survey result also showed that the estimations to 39 ability and quality demand items are tending to come together,fixing on the two options,to be fully mastered / fully equipped / very necessary / fully understood and good mastery / better possession / comparatively necessary / understanding.
