| ObjectiveTo investigate the incidence and correlation of chronic rhinosinusitis(CRS)and nasal septum deviation(NSD)in newly enrolled high school students in Zhengzhou,China,,and to investigate the relationship between nasal septum deviation in different degrees and the incidence of chronic rhinosinusitis in this group.Methods1677 newly enrolled high school students in Zhengzhou City were selected. After establishing the exclusion criteria,1565 participants were included in the study. These students have completed the CRS and NSD questionnaires and specialist physical examinations.Based on the collection and collation of the results of the questionnaires and specialist physical examinations,we statistically analyzed the prevalence of CRS and the incidence of NSD with different degrees and studied the correlation between the two diseases.Results1、The overall incidence of NSD is 47.7%(747/1565),of which the incidence of NSD is 51.9%(406/782)in boys and 43.6%(341/783)in girls. The incidence of NSD between boys and girls was statistically different(χ2=10.981,P=0.001).2、The overall prevalence of CRS is 7.3%(115/1565),of which the prevalence of CRS is 9.8%(77/782)in boys and 4.9%(38/783)in girls. There was a statistically significant difference in the prevalence of CRS between boys and girls(χ2=14.329,P<0.001).3、For the prevalence of CRS in this group, the non-NSD group was 6.2%,the mild to moderate NSD group was 6.7%,and the severe NSD group was 12.7%.There was no significant difference between the mild to moderate NSD group(6.7%)and the non-NSD group(6.2%)(P>0.05),and the confidence ratio(OR)was 1.074 and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)was(0.686-1.683).The difference between the severe NSD group(12.7%)and the non-NSD group(6.2%)was statistically significant(P=0.001),and its confidence ratio(OR)was 2.180 and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)was(1.354-3.510).At the same time, the difference between the severe NSD group(12.7%)and the mild to moderate NSD group(6.7%)was statistically significant(P=0.006),and its confidence ratio(OR)was 2.029 and 95%confidence interval(95%CI)was(1.210-3.404).ConclusionThe prevalence of CRS and the incidence of NSD in newly enrolled high school students in Zhengzhou are both gender-related,and there are more boys than girls(P<0.05).There is a significant correlation between severe NSD and CRS in newly enrolled high school students in Zhengzhou. |
