Investigation Of The Chlamydia Trachomatis And Neisseria Gonorrhoeae Infection And Influencing Factors Among Female Sex Workers In An Area Of Yunnan Province

Objectives:To understand Chlamydia trachomatis and Neisseria gonorrhoeae infection status and influencing factors among female sex workers in an area of Yunnan Province,and provide a scientific basis for the prevention and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases among female sex workers.Methods:A cross-sectional study was used in the study,and face-to-face questionnaire survey was conducted by non-probability sampling among 200 female sex workers which were informed and consented in an area of Yunnan province,and urine and cervical swabs were collected for CT and NG nucleic acid detection.Epidata 3.1 and SPSS 17.0 were used for data input and statistical analysis.Results:A total of 202 female sex workers completed the questionnaire survey,and each subject completed at least one sample of urine or cervical swabs.A total of 196 urine and 199 cervical swabs were collected and tested.1.General demographic characteristics:The average age among female sex workers was 25.54±7.33 years old,of which the 20-29 year-old was 49.5%(100/202),and the ethnic minorities were 63.9%(129/202);53.5%(108/202)were educated in junior high school,55.4%(121/202)were unmarried,and 88.6%(179/202)were form Yunnan province.2.Characteristics of sexual behavior:The average age of the first sexual behaviors was 17.42±2.14 years old,the average age of the first Commercial sexual behaviors was 22.44±6.16 years old,and the average number of guests per-week was 2.44±2.31.3.CT and NG infection:The CT infection rate was 23.27%(47/202),NG infection rate was 8.91%(18/202),and STD(CT or/and NG were positive)infection rate was 26.24%(53/202),and the co-infected with CT and NG rate was 5.94%(12/202).4.Condoms use:The latest commercial sexual condoms use rate among female sex workers was 93.1%(188/202),and the commercial sexual condoms persistence rate in the most recent month was 85.6%(172/202).5.Medical treatment and intervention services:22.8%(46/202)of subjectes had one or more symptoms or signs related to sexually transmitted diseases in the last year,of which 67.4%(31/46)chosed to visit the general hospital,17.4%(8/46)didnt do anything,and 15.2%(7/46)bought the medicine themselves.And 89.1%of the female sex workers had received at least one or more sexually transmitted diseases health services in the last year,of which 71.8%(145/202)had received STD health services,68.3%(138/202)received condom promotion and distribution,57.4%(116/202)received consultation or testing for STD,51.0%(103/202)received gynecological examination or treatment,35.1%(71/202)received STD-related examination or treatment,and 24.8%(50/202)received the education from their companions.Conclusions:The incidence of CT and NG incidence among the female sex workers is high.And the younger group of first commercial sexual behavior is the risk factor for CT infection.The minority,the younger groups of first sexual behavior and the first commercial sexual behavior are the two risk factors for NG infection.The area of female sex workers is characterized by a low level of education and a high proportion of unmarried.There are phenomena such as weak medical awareness and irregular medical treatment behaviors among female sex workers in the area.lt is necessary to further strengthen the work of STD and AIDS intervention services among female sex workers.It is suggested to strengthen the cooperation between departments,such as cooperate with the management departments of entertainment venues and further enhance community team capacity to strengthen publicity and education on STD prevention and treatment among female sex workers,so to achieve a higher condom use rate,and mobilize the FSWs to actively seek regulate medical detect and treatment.
