Speech Analysis Of Pre-and Post-Tonsillectomy In Patients With Tonsil Hypertrophy

Objectives;To analyze the changes of voice before and after the tonsillectomy by multi-channel speech analysis system and multi-dimensional voice analysis software.To explore the effect of the change of pharyngeal cavity before and after surgery on the patient's voice.Methods;The study included 34 tonsil hypertrophy patients who received tonsillectomy.Using multi-channel voice analysis system to test the cavity resonance characteristics and energy distribution of patients?including pre-and post-operative?when they speak/a;/.The frequency spectrum was 4000Hz?FR₁,FR₂,FR₃,FR₄?.Using MDVP to test the voice frequency spectrum when they speak/a;/.Results;FR₂?FR₃ energy values of the head cavity and mouth cavity,FR₂ energy values of the thoracic cavity increased to the level of the normal control group after tonsillectomy?P<0.05?;FR₁ energy values of head,mouth and thoracic cavity decreased to the level of the normal control group after tonsillectomy?P<0.05?.FR₁,FR₂,FR₃,FR₄ energy values of laryngeal cavity maintained the normal level?including pre-and post-operative?.There were significant difference in the first tormant frequency and bandwidth before and one month after surgery.No significant differences were found for F₀,Jitter,Shimmer,NHR decreased after the surgery.Conclusions;1.Tonsillectomy made oropharyngeal cavity volume expanding,airflow channel broadening,tongue movement back to normal.Air can enter smoothly into the nasopharyngeal cavity,nasal cavity through the soft palate,then changes the resonance characteristics of the head cavity and oral.Because of tonsillectomy does not change the physiological structure of throat and chest,so the changes of pre-and post-operative resonance characteristics was not obvious.We believe that the multi channel speech analysis system not only can help the singer to determine its vocal type in the field of vocal music teaching,also can help clinicians to assessment voice and surgery effect of nasal and throat disease.2.Tonsillectomy can cause changes in patients with tonsil hypertrophy,Especially the formant frequency and broadband.We should not ignore it when the patient is singer or teachers.We must inform the risk to them.3.Voice assessment has a certain clinical significance for the evaluation of voice changes before and after pharyngeal surgery,especially for some special occupational groups,such as opera,broadcasting and singing professionals.
