Objective: In this study, the patients with slow transit constipation due to lung and spleen deficiency were taken as the research object, the related score sheet?colonic transit test results of patients and serum nitric oxide(NO)content were used as the evaluation criteria of curative effect. The clinical study was conducted to compare Tian di tong fu umbilical needle with a control group with conventional acupuncture, objectively evaluate the effect of Tian di tong fu umbilical needle and explore its mechanism of action. Methods: According to inclusion and exclusion criteria,60 patients with lung and spleen deficiency slow transit constipation were randomly divided into treatment group and control group during the period from January 2018 to December 2018 in the people's Hospital affiliated to Fujian University of traditional Chinese Medicine. The treatment group(n=30)was treated with Tian di tong fu umbilical needle, while the control group(n=30)was treated with conventional acupuncture.Once every other day,3 times as a course of treatment, both groups were continuously treated for 3 courses. The changes of constipation symptoms score?quantitative scale of qi deficiency symptoms?colonic transit test results of patients and serum NO were observed before and after treatment in the two groups. Results using spss22.0 statistics,p<0.05 The difference was statistically significant.Results:(1)after three consecutive courses of treatment in the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group and the conventional acupuncture group, the scores and total scores of each factor in the symptom scale of constipation in the two groups decreased as compared with those before treatment. The difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).In comparison between groups, treatment group was better than control group in improving defecation difficulty, shortening defecation time and relieving abdominal distension, and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).There was no significant difference in improving defecation frequency and fecal character between the two groups(p>0.05).(2)after three consecutive courses of treatment in the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group and the conventional acupuncture group, the total scores of the quantitative scale of qi deficiency symptoms in the two groups of patients were all decreased, and the difference was statistically significant(p<0.05).The decrease of scale score of Qi deficiency symptom grading in two groups was no significant difference(p>0.05).(3)The total effective rate of the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group was 96.67%,while that of conventional acupuncture was 93.33%.There was no significant difference between the two groups(p>0.05).It is indicated that the curative effect of the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group is equal to that of conventional acupuncture group.(4)after three consecutive courses of treatment in the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group and the conventional acupuncture group,The number of intra-intestinal markers in the two groups was less than that before treatment(p<0.05).and the reduction was more pronounced in the treatment group(p<0.05).(5)after three courses of continuous treatment in the Tian di tong fu umbilical needle group and conventional acupuncture group, the serum NO content of the two groups decreased significantly(p<0.05),The serum NO reduction in the treatment group were more significant(P<0.05).Conclusion: Tian di tong fu umbilical needle can improve constipation and qi deficiency symptoms. The improvement of colonic transport function may be related to the regulation of serum NO content and the contraction of intestinal smooth muscle.
