Objective:To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Chai-ping decoction in the treatment of chronic gastritis. Methods:Systematic review methods were applied to the following electronic databases for search:the Cochrane Library,Pubmed,Embase,Web of science,CBM,CNKI,Vip,WF.Randomized or semi-randomized controlled trials were collceted, the trials included wester-n medicine, proprietary chinese medicine and triple therapy.Percentage chart of risk bias, forest map, heterogeneity test, funnel plot and sensitivity analysis were made by RevMan5.3 software. Results:A total of 203 articles on the treatment of chronic gastritis with Chai-ping decoction were searched, and 12 RCT articles which met the inclusion criteria were obtained, with a total of 1268 patients with chronic gastritis, all of the trials were not adequate in methodological quality, and the funnel plot indicates that there was a published bias in this study. The results of meta analysis show that:Clinical efficiency:1.Comparison of Chai-ping decoction with western medicine and Chinese patent medicine:The curative effect of Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction and western medicine and Chinese patent medicine were reported in 12 randomized controlled trials, the heterogeneity test showed that there were homogeneity in 12 groups(P=0.94>0.1,I~2=0%),so the fixed effect model was used for meta analysis, the result(OR=4.94,95%CI:3.44-7.08,combined specific effect Test Z=8.69,P<0.00001)showed that Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction was superior to western medicine and conventional western medicine, the difference was statistically significant.Clinical efficiency:(Subgroup analysis)1.Comparison of Chai-ping decoction and triple therapy:The curative effect of Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction and triple therapy were reported in 4randomized controlled trials, the heterogeneity test showed that there were homogeneity in4 groups(P=0.69>0.1,I~2=0%),therefore,the fixed effect model was used for meta analysis, the result showed that the curative effect of Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction was better than that of triple therapy in the treatment of chronic gastritis, which was statistically significant.2.Comparison of curative effect between Chai-ping decoction and Conventional western medicine:5 randomized controlled trials reported the curative effect of Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction and Conventional western medicine, the heterogeneity test result showed homogeneity(P=0.77>0.1,I~2=0%),so the fixed effect model was used for meta analysis,result(OR=4.28,95%CI:2.60-7.05,combined specific effect Test Z=5.72,P<0.00001)showed that Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction was superior to conventional western medicine, the difference was statistically significant.3.Comparison of curative effect between Chai-ping decoction and Chinese pate-nt medicine:3 studies used RevMan5.3 statistical software to make forest map,and the result showed that the 3 studies were not heterogeneous(heterogeneity anal-ysis P=0.95>0.1,I~2=0%),in thetreatment of chronic gastritis, fixed effect model of m eta analysis concluded that there was a significant difference between the total eff-e ctive rate of Chaiping decoction and the total effective rate of Chinese patent me-di cine(combined effect OR=4.01,95%CI:1.55-10.32;combined specific effect test Z=2.87,P=0.004),the total effective rate of Chai-ping decoction was superior to that of proprietary Chinese medicine.Conclusion:Chai-ping decoction and its addition and subtraction is better than conventional western medicine,Chinese patent medicine and triple therapy in the treatment of chronic gastritis. In addition, only one of the 12 articles reports advrse reactions, which could not explain the safety of Chai-ping decoction. But because the quality included literature generally is low, there was publication bias in the included research literature, the conclusion of this system evaluation needs more largesample,multicenter,highquality,well-designed controlled trials to further supporting.
