Objective: To investigate the correlation between serum ferritin levels and gestational diabetes mellitus in early and mid-term pregnant women and to discuss the necessity and rationality of preventive iron supplementation during pregnancy. Methods: For women with twin pregnancies who were examined at an outpatient clinic at Shengjing Hospital,China Medical University from January 2015 to January 2015,ferritin levels during the first trimester(6-12 weeks)and the second trimester(15-20 weeks)were measured.24-28 Weekly Oral Glucose Tolerance Test(Glucose Tolerance Test)was used to measure blood glucose levels. The subjects were divided into gestational diabetes group and control group(100 cases each for retrospective analysis, and the receiver operating characteristic curve)to evaluate the early and mid-term ferritin early prediction of gestational diabetes value. Results:There was no significant difference in SF [(41.11 ± 36.27)ug/L] and[(33.79 ± 28.45)ug/L)] in the GDM group during early pregnancy(t=-1.627,p=0.100).(24.09 ±2.57)ug/L] was significantly higher than the control group[(16.24 ± 9.13)ug/L].The difference was statistically significant(t=-8.432,p=0.000);correlation analysis suggested that the SF level in early pregnancy and OGTT There was a significant correlation between FPG and OGTT1h(r=0.233,0.143,P=0.034,0.01 respectively). There was a significant correlation between SF and FPG,OGTT1 h,and OGTT2 h during the second trimester(r=0.319,0.375,respectively).,0.365,P = 0.000)were positively correlated;the area under the ROC curve of ferritin and GDM in early pregnancy was 0.553(95% CI:0.473-0.633)suggesting that the increase of SF in early pregnancy to determine the feasibility of GDM is lower(P = 0.157),the area under the ROC curve of SF and GDM in the middle trimester was 0.827(95% CI: 0.760-0.894)suggesting that the increase in SF during the second trimester was more likely to determineGDM(P = 0.000).It is known that the critical value of iron supplementation is19.7 ug/L.SF predicts the corresponding sensitivity and specificity of GDM in twin pregnancy women to be 98.0% and 72.0%,respectively.Conclusion: The positive correlation between ferritin during pregnancy and gestational diabetes in pregnant women can provide reference criteria for early prediction of GDM occurrence and for the necessity and rationality of preventive iron supplementation during pregnancy.
