Objective: This study measured SF levels of pregnant women in late pregnancy to investigate the relationship between the level of ferritin and GDM,to provide a reference value for the pathogenesis of GDM.This study not only explore the maternal SF levels also explore the iron levels in newborns,to know the state of iron reserves GDM pregnant women newborns, may provide for the timely intervention. To prevent infant iron deficiency leads to irreversible damage to the nervous system. Methods:From November 2014 to November 2015,42 GDM women(GDM group)and40 healthy pregnant women(control group)who delivered in the First Affiliated Hospital of Wannan Medical College and their newborns were studied. The concentrations of serum ferritin(SF),hemoglobin(HB)and fasting plasma glucose(FPG)and fasting insulin were tested for all the women before delivery and measured height, weight to calculated the BMI.To record all subjects’ age, gestational age, pregancy times.Insulin resistance was assessed by the homeostasis model insulin resistance index(HOMA-IR).The differences between two groups in insulin resistance were analyzed. The relationship between insulin resistanceand and SF were analyzed by the HOMA-IR.The neonatal birth weight was recorded and umbilical cord blood glucose, serum ferritin and cord blood insulin were measured, then to analyse two groups of neonatal iron storage level. Results:Group GDM’ gestational age was(39.04±1.45)weeks,and the control group’was(39.40±0.87).There were no differences between the Group GDM’ gestational age and the control group(P>0.05).The group of GDM pregnant women’ SF,FPG,FINS was significantly higher than the control group(P < 0.05);The GDM’ HOMA-IR is higher than the control group(P< 0.05);Group GDM’ SF levels in pregnant women was positively correlated with HOMA-IR(r=0.600,P=0.000),Group GDM’ SF levels in pregnant women was positively correlated with BMI,HB,FPG,FINS and the birth weight of neonates(r=0.715,0.503,0.437,0.641,0.854,P<0.05);The GDM group of umbilical cord blood SF level and the birth weight of neonateswas were significantly higher than the control group(P < 0.05);There were statistically significant differences between the mothers’ SF level and neonatals’ SF level(P <0.05).Conclusions:The pregnant women with GDM have insulin resistance,is an important factor in the occurrence and development of GDM;The pregnant women with GDM with higher serum ferritin than normal pregnant women and high concentrations of ferritin and insulin resistance has certain correlation;High concentrations of ferritin may be involved in the occurrence and development of GDM;The pregnant women with GDM may related to the iron deficiency of the newborns. |
