Background and Objective: The prevalance of stroke in the young has been rising recently. It's imprative to investigate the clinical features of stroke in the young when facing this situation.Retrospectively, this aricle will analyze the clinical information of patients with stroke in the young who are admitted to Shengjing Hospital and guide people how to prevent stroke in the young. Methods: Collect information of the patients with the diagnosis of acute stroke and 812 patients whose age is between 18 and 45 were included and analyze the feature of the etiology and location of lesions. Results: 812 patients were included and cerebral infract, cerebral hemorrhage, subarachnoid hemorrhage and cerebral venous sinus thrombosis respectively account for76%,11.8%,5.8% and 7.1%.Small artery occlusion was the commonest subtype of etiology in the patients with cerebral infarcts(44%).The subtype of other determined etiology prevailed in female and youth with the age betwenn 18 and 35(p<0.01).Hypertension was the commonest etiology of patients with cerebral hemorrhage.Patients with cerebral hemorrhage tend to affect basal ganglia and thalamus regions.Moyamoya disease prevailed in female and youth with the age between 14 and 35(p<0.01).Cerebral Vein Sinus Thrombosis prevailed in female(72%)with pregrance being as the major cause(62.1%).Compared with first-ever cerebral infraction, recurrent infraction patients were older(p<0.01)and mostly caused by Large Artery Atherosclerosis(p=0.002).Cerebral infraction patients between 18 and 35 had less risk factors and more caused by other determined etiology(p=0.015).The patients who were delayed for hospitalization suffer from more diabetes mellitus(p=0.044).Conclusion: Cerebral infract is the main subtype of stroke in the young.Compared with male patients, female cerebral hemorrhage or ischemic stroke patients suffer from rare etiologies.Clinical doctors should pay more attention to rare etiology of female patients and youth between 18 and 35 with the diagnosis of cerebral infracts and cerebral hemorrhage. The etiology of male patients with cerebral venous sinus thrombosis tend to be unclear and need more detailed medical history and more laboratory test. The patients with recurrent cerebral infarcts predominately were between 36 and 45 and the imging of cranial large vessels should be paid more attention to evaluate.Hypertension and inferior circulation lesion size prevail in the first-ever cerebral infraction patients with silent brain infarcts. The occurence of silent brain infarcts means severe situation of first-onset cerebral infracts.
