Objectives:To explore the value of mean platelet volume(MPV)to platelet count(PC)ratio to predict sepsis in patients with community-acquired pneumonia(CAP)Methods:We retrospectively analyzed the clinical data of CAP patients admitted to Shengjing Hospital affiliated to China Medical University from March 2014 to September 2018.The general data, healthy status, vital signs, laboratory tests and imaging examinations of the patients were analyzed with univariate analysis.Multivariate logistic analysis was performed for factors that had statistical significance in the univariate analysis. The ROC curve was drawn to determine the optimal cutoff value of MPV/PC for predicting sepsis in patients with CAP,and the sensitivity, specificity and accuracy were calculated.Results:1.A total of 299 patients were enrolled, and 106 patients developed sepsis.Multivariate logistic analysis showed MPV/PC was independent predictor in the development of sepsis in CAP patients[OR=1.55,95%CI(1.01,2.42),P<0.05].2.The ROC curve shows that the optimal cutoff value of MPV/PC to predict sepsis is 5.83,the sensitivity is 42.5%,the specificity is 89.1%,the accuracy is 72.6%,and the area under the curve is 0.71[95%CI(0.63,0.76)),P<0.05].Conclusions:MPV and PC alone did not predict sepsis in CAP patients.However,MPV/PC is an independent predictor in the development of sepsis in CAP patients.
