Objective: 1.Introduce the Melasma Quality of Life Scale(MELASQOL)and translate the Chinese version of MELASQOL to evaluate its reliability and effectiveness in Chinese female with melasma.2.According to the different demographics, behavioral and clinical information, the effects of melasma on the quality of life of patients and related influencing factors were studied. Methods: The Chinese version of the MELASQOL was translated in accordance with the WHO cross-cultural adaptation of health-related quality of life measures after we got the permission from the copyright holders of MELASQOL.After pre-testing with25 patients, the final report was sent to the copyright holders and the final version of Ch-MELASQOL was approved.Internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability of the scale were assessed using Cronbach's ? coefficient and ICC.The Spearman correlation coefficient was used to verify the correlation between the Ch-MELASQOL,HRQoL questionnaire and DLQI scores, and evaluate the validity of Ch-MELASQOL.Demographic,behavioral and clinical information were collected from female patients with melasma who were admitted to the dermatology clinic of the First Hospital of China Medical University through a Ch-MELASQOL survey by researchers, and calculated the mMASI scores. Results: A total of 104 patients with melasma who met the inclusion criteria were enrolled in the questionnaire survey. The Ch-MELASQOL scores and the mMASI scores were 35.22±16.58 and 6.43±3.17,respectively.Ch-MELASQOL has good internal consistency reliability and test-retest reliability. The Cronbach' s ? coefficient was 0.950.The ICC of each item in two measurements was 0.735~0.961(p<0.001).The results of validity analysis showed that the Ch-MELASQOL scores were negatively correlated with scores of the HRQoL questionnaire(r=-0.336,p<0.001).The Ch-MELASQOL scores and the DLQI scores were positively correlated(r=0.504,p<0.001).The most affected item in the Ch-MELASQOL was the appearance of skin condition, followed by frustration and embarrassment caused by melasma.Univariateanalysis showed that Ch-MELASQOL scores were related to patients' education level, age of menarche, regularity of menstruation, age of first pregnancy, history of menopause, age of onset, treatment history, gynecological disease and other factors(p<0.05).Multivariate analysis showed that education level and patients' age of onset were significantly correlated with Ch-MELASQOL scores(p <0.001).Conclusion: We created the Chinese version of MELASQOL for cross-cultural adaptation, which has good reliability and validity in the Chinese population. It will be applied in Chinese-speaking region for more large sample of epidemiological investigations. There are many related factors influencing the quality of life of patients with melasma.SO clinicians should be aware of their negative psychosocial impact, combine with the results of Ch-MELASQOL,guide prevention and treatment, monitor clinical efficacy, and improve patients' quality of life.
