Saussurea DC is a large genus of the Compositae.It is an annual,biennial or perennial herb,sometimes a small shrub.There are about 400 species in the world,distributed in Asia and Europe and about 264 species are known in China,all over the country.Some of plants from genus Saussurea have medicinal value-such as the functions of clearing away heat,detoxifying and swelling,strengthening the brain and eyes,etc.They can also used to treat cold,pneumonia,rhinitis,throat swelling and pain,eye blur and other symptoms.In recent years,it has been found that genus Saussurea contains abundant brass compounds,which can be used to treat coronary heart disease,hypertension and so on.So far,the chemical constituents of this genus are flavonoids,sesquiterpenoids,steroids,triterpenoids,long-chain fatty,carbohydrates and so on.Their pharmacological effects mainly include anti-tumor,anti-inflammation,anti-aging and improving cardiovascular system function.In order to excavate more plants from the genus Saussurea with medicinal value,to find the antitumor active compounds with application prospect,and to develop new Chinese herbal medicine resources,we launch this research.In this thesis,we studied the chemical constituents of S.pachyneura,a species from the genus Saussurea DC,which was collected from Zheduo Mountain,Kangding County,Sichuan Province.The chemical constituents of the ethanol extract of S.pachyneura were systematically isolated by silica gel column chromatography,Sephadex LH-20 column chromatography,preparative thin layer chromatography and recrystallization.A total of22 pure compounds were isolated.Spectroscopic techniques such as MS,1D NMR(1H-NMR,13C-NMR,DEPT),2D NMR?1H-1H COSY,HMBC,HMQC?,together with the thin thin-layer chromatography comparison with standard,were used for structure elucidation,and 14 compounds were identified,which were spathulenol?1?,linoleic acid?2?,?-sitosterol?3?,enediynol?4?,coriolic acid ethyl ester?5?,stearic acid?6?,oleanolic acid?7?,ursolic acid?8?,ferulaldehyde?9?,caffeic acid ethyl ester?10?,octadecanoyl caffeate?11?,sinapaldehyde?12?,7?-hydroxysitosterol?13?,5?,8?-peroxyergosterol?14?.They belong to long-chain fatty alcohols cids and its esters,enynes,triterpenoids,phenylpropanoids,sterols,etc.It's the first phytochemical study on S.pachyneura.Compounds 1,5,9,11,12,13,14 were isolated from Subgen.Saussurea for the first time,and compound 5 was a new compound.
