Face processing is an important way for hearing-impaired children to communicate effectively in society, and it is also an important way to obtain clues of individual's identity, race and emotion.Improving the level of hearing-impaired children's face perception is of great significance to individual social interaction. The purpose of this study is to deeply explore the way of Chinese hearing-impaired children's face processing with age. This study recruited children aged 7-17 years and used the Face dimensions task experimental paradigm to discuss the face processing of hearing-impaired children and compared the results with hearing children. This paper consists of four parts. The first part summarizes the research on face processing in hearing and hearing-impaired children, summarizes the existing research views and proposes the focus and the design of this study in the second part. The third part is composed of three experiments, which respectively investigated the development of face processing mode, face inversion effect and other-race effect of face processing in hearing-impaired children and hearing children. The purpose of experiment one is to explore the hearing-impaired children's face processing mode. The results showed that the processing of their faces was dominated by the feature processing of face types and the mouth processing of face positions and the age of 9-10 is a critical period for hearing impaired children to significantly improve their face processing. The purpose of experiment two is to explore the inversion effect of face processing in children with hearing impaired. The results showed the hearing-impaired children's face processing was whole processing, the ability to process the face with stand was significantly better than the inverted faces, and for the mouth of the mixed effect more. The purpose of experiment three is to explore the other-race effect of face processing in children with hearing impaired. The results showed the hearing-impaired children's face processing of native faces tends to structure processing and the hearing-impaired children's face processing of other-race faces tends to feature processing. The other-race effect of mouth processing is greater than that of eye processing.Hearingimpaired children pay more attention to the mouth processing of their own faces and the eye processing of other-race faces, and the other-race effect of mouth processing decreases with age.The fourth part is the summary and prospect. In this part, the innovation and deficiency of this study were discussed, and the future research direction was proposed based on the results of this study. The results of this study showed that the face processing of hearing-impaired children was related to age,the strategy of face processing changed with age,and the level of face processing was related to the way of daily communication. So,attention should be paid to the teaching of both sign language and spoken language. The results of this study have certain significance for social development and education of hearingimpaired children.
