ObjectiveTo explore the psychological situation of pectus excavatum(PE)patients at different ages and the effect of different ages on the psychology of patients.Provide reference for selecting the appropriate age for surgery in the clinic.Materials and MethodsThe gender?age/operative age?living area and Haller index of 197 cases with pectus excavatum(preoperative group: 101 patients;postoperative group: 96 patients)were collected from July 2016 to January 2018.The psychological behavior of children in different age groups was assessed by Achenbach's Child Behavior Checklist(aCBCL:2-3-year-old or 4-16-year-old version)before surgery in the preoperative group and before taking the plate in the operated group.The total score of each patient's scale and the scores of each behavioral factor were recorded.The children were divided into 2-3 year old group,4-5 year old group,6-11 year old group and 12-16 year old group according to the different factor items of different age scales.According to the Haller index,the disease was graded: mild(haller index <3.2),moderate(3.2 ? haller index ? 3.5),and severe(haller index > 3.5).Among the preoperative group: 78 males and 23 females,15 cases of 2-3 years old,33 cases of 4-5 years old,31 cases of 6-11 years old,22 cases of 12-16 years old,52 cases of towns and 49 cases of rural areas,light 24 cases,moderate 60 cases,severe 17 cases;The postoperative group: 74 males and 22 females,the age of surgery: 10 cases of 2-3 years old,34 cases of 4-5 years old,28 cases of 6-11 years old,24 cases of 12-16 years old,60 cases of towns and 36 cases of rural areas.Mild in 26 cases,moderate in 56 cases,and severe in 14 cases.There were no repeat cases in the two groups.Analyze and compare the preoperative and postoperative behavioral factor scores of different age groups to understand the psychological behavior of children with different ages.Results1.There was no significant difference between the preoperative group and the postoperative group(gender,age,disease severity,living area)(P>0.05),which was comparable.2.Preoperative group:psychological abnormal rate: 23 cases(29.5%)males,12 females(52.2%),20 cases(38.5%)in urban areas,15 cases(35.7%)in rural areas,6 cases(25%)in mild cases There were 20 cases(33.3%)and 9 cases(52.9%).The psychological abnormal rate of females was higher than that of males(P<0.05).There was no significant difference in the psychological abnormal rate between children in different regions and different disease severity(P> 0.05).3.Preoperative group:the total psychological abnormal rate(34.65%)was significantly higher than the national standard(12.97%)(P<0.05),1 case(6.67%)in 2-3 years old,and 7 cases in 4-5 years old(21.2%),14 cases(45.2%)aged 6-11 years,13 cases(59.1%)aged 12-16 years;There was no significant difference in the psychological abnormal rate between 2-3 years old,4-5 years old,6-11 years old and 12-16 years old group(P>0.05).The abnormal rate was lower in 2-3 years than in 6-11 years old and 12-16 years old(P<0.05);the abnormal rate was lower in 4-5 years old group than 6-11 years old and 12-16 years old group(P<0.05).4.Postoperative group:the total psychological abnormal rate(12.50%)was not significantly different from the national standard(12.97%)(P>0.05),2-3 years old 0 cases(0%);4-5 years old 1 case(2.90%)),4 cases(14.3%)aged 6-11 years,7 cases(29.2%)aged 12-16 years,There were no significant differences between the children aged 2-3 years and 4-5 years,6-11 years old and 12-16 years old(P>0.05).The psychological abnormalities of 4-5 years old and 6-11 years old group,6-11 years old and 12-16 years old group were similar(P>0.05).The psychological abnormal rate was lower in the 4-5 years old group than in the 12-16 years old group(P<0.05).5.The total psychological abnormal rate of the preoperative group was higher than that of the postoperative group(P<0.01).There was no difference in the prevalence between the 2-3 year old preoperative group and the postoperative group(P>0.05).4-5 years old,6-11 years old,12-16 years old preoperative group were higher than the same age postoperative group(P<0.05).Conclusion1.Pectus excavatum has negative impact on the psychology,The psychological impact of the pectus excavatum on children who are less than 6 years old is smaller than that of children who are more than 6 years old.2.The negative psychological impact of the pectus excavatum on female is greater than that of the boy,and the impact is not related to the living area of the child and the severity of the disease.3.surgery could effectively improve the mental health of children with PE,the psychological recovery of children who are less than 6 years old is better than that of children who are more than 6 years old.In summary,just consider of the psychology,the earlier the child with pectus excavatum surgery,the better the psychological recovery.
